One Fast Move is the latest sports drama film from Amazon Prime Video. The film, written and directed by Kelly Blatz and starring KJ Apa, Eric Dane, Maia Raficco and Edward James Olmos, released on August 8, 2024.
One Fast Move follows a rookie racer Wes Neal, played by Apa, who tries to get into professional motorcycle racing with the help of his father Dean Miller who had abandoned him in childhood.
Dean used to be a decorated racer but stopped racing due to a back injury. He reluctantly allows Wes to race, but after recognizing his natural talent, he decides to train him for the nationals, but they must confront their past to move forward.

Wes defeated Dean in the final race
One Fast Move opens with an illegal motorcycle race where Wes Neil tries to run away from the cops. He's apprehended after a fierce chase where cops get injured, landing him in prison.
Wes gets out of prison after six months and decides to become a pro racer, but for that, he must meet his father Dean, who had abandoned him and his mother many years back. Wes and Dean develop an awkward but sincere relationship, and upon Wes' repeated request, Dean reluctantly allows him to race.
Recognising Wes' potential, Dean begins to train Wes for bigger races, winning which would bring sponsorship money, which would change both their lives. However, the ghost from their past returns, resulting in a fight between them, after which Wes moves out of his father's house.
However, the two make up before the final race, after Dean accepts that he had made some poor decisions in life. He decides to race after 20 years, giving credit to his son for inspiring him.
Wes and Dean go neck-to-neck till the last part of the race. But Wes ends up bedazling Dean by unexpectedly overtaking him from the other side, winning the race.
Meanwhile, Dean loses balance; his bike slips, and he gets injured. Wes rushes back to see his father, worried about his reaction. Dean looks at him and raises his hand in appreciation.
Does Wes and Camila end up together in One Fast Move?
One Fast Move also explores the relationship between Wes and Camila, a bartender played by Maia Raficco.
They meet in Camila's place of employment and start seeing each other after Wes asks her out. Soon their cute dates blossom into a relationship. Wes also forms a bond with Camila's three-year-old son Leo.
However, Dean doesn't appreciate the fact that Wes is dating a single mother. He tells Camila about Wes' past problems with the police. Camila also witnesses Wes furiously beating up a fellow racer on the same day and decides to stay away from him to keep Leo away from the violence.
Later, Wes and Camila get into an intense fight. They break up after accusing each other of being untruthful. After having a confrontation with Dean, Wes realizes his mistake, apologizes to Camila and invites her to the race, which she refuses.
However, she comes to the race to support Wes, cheering him as he flies through each lap, finishing on top. The film ends with the couple sharing a tender kiss.
One Fast Move is about missed opportunities
The sports drama film is essentially an exploration of missed opportunities. We are introduced to Wes as the protagonist, who shares the weight of being abandoned by his father.
Meanwhile, Dean stopped racing after a lower back injury and never got back on the track professionally again. He tries to get what he missed through his son but is too proud to admit it. He can't even accept the fact that he had made a mistake by abandoning his son. The weight of his fall, or rather, failure to get up has subtly consumed his life.
However, after being confronted by Wes, he comes to terms with himself, apologizing to him and admitting that he had made a mistake by missing an opportunity to be a father.
In the final scene, Abel, Dean and Wes' employer and a racing expert, smiles after seeing Wes and Camila share a kiss, showing his happiness that Wes is not going to miss the opportunity to have a family like Dean.
