Saturday Night is a biographical comedy-drama released on September 27, 2024. Directed by Jason Reitman, the film is co-written by Reitman and Gil Kenan. Jason Blumenfeld, Peter Rice, Jason Reitman, and Gil Kenan serve as the film's producers.
The movie chronicles the chaos and behind-the-scenes antics that took place in the 90 minutes before the first broadcast of NBC's Saturday Night's (now known as Saturday Night Live) on October 11, 1975. The film hit theaters on the 49th anniversary of that fateful night that made history in the world of television comedy.

Saturday Night features an ensemble cast, led by Gabriel LaBelle
1) Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels
In Saturday Night, Gabriel LaBelle plays the iconic showrunner and producer of SNL, Lorne Michaels.
Gabriel's breakout role was playing Sammy Fabelman, based on Steven Spielberg's youth, in his semi-autobiographical film, The Fabelmans. He has also played young Julian Kaye in the Showtime series American Gigolo.
2) Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase
In the movie, Chevy Chase is played by actor Cory Michael Smith. Chase was the first anchor of the 'Weekend Update' segment and received two Emmy awards for his performance on the show. He left SNL at the start of the second season and went on to star in leading roles in popular comedies of the 1980s.
Cory's television roles include playing Edward Nygma/The Riddler in Gotham, Dr. Kevin Coulson in Olive Kitteridge, Thomas Christie in Utopia, and Varian Fry in Transatlantic. He has also starred in films like Carol, First Man, Wonderstruck, 1985, May December, etc.
3) Matt Wood as John Belushi
Matt Wood plays the legendary comedian John Belushi in Saturday Night. John played fan-favorite characters like Jake Blues, Pete Dionisopoulos, Samurai Futaba, Henry Kissinger, and James T. Kirk during his stint on the variety show.
Matt is an accomplished stage actor. On television, he has starred as Officer Kenneth Parker in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Dan in The Michael J. Fox Show, and Justin in Instinct, among others. Furthermore, he has played Rocco Lombardi in the film, Sunset Park.
4) Rachel Sennott as Rosie Shuster
Rachel Sennott plays SNL's original writing staff member, Rosie Shuster. She married Lorne Michaels during the show's premiere in 1975.
Rachel's film credits include Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and I Used to Be Funny, among others. Moreover, she has appeared on television in Call Your Mother, The Idol, and Ayo and Rachel Are Single.
5) Matthew Rhys as George Carlin
The Welsh actor Matthew Rhys stars as SNL's first-ever host, George Carlin. Carlin's appearance was unusual as he did not perform in any of the episode's sketches. Moreover, his duties as host involved doing stand-up segments throughout the episode, instead of the standard monologue at the start of the episode.
Rhys is best known for his role in the spy thriller, The Americans opposite Keri Russell. His performance in shows like Brothers & Sisters, Perry Mason, and Girls was also praised by critics and audiences alike. Moreover, he has starred in the films Cocaine Bear, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, The Post, The Edge of Love, etc.
6) Dylan O'Brien as Dan Aykroyd
Dylan O'Brien plays Dan Aykroyd, who appeared on SNL for four seasons from 1975 to 1979. His impressions of Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, and Julia Child on the show are remembered to this day. Additionally, he also created recurring sketches like the Blues Brothers and Coneheads.
The actor is also known for playing Stiles Stilinski in the series Teen Wolf, Thomas in the Maze Runner film trilogy, Caleb Holloway in Deepwater Horizon, Mitch Rapp in American Assassin, and Joel Dawson in Love and Monsters.
