The Jurassic Park franchise is getting a fourth movie in its Jurassic World film series, and one cast member in particular is overjoyed to be a part of it.
Speaking to Comicbook.com at a press junket for her upcoming film Fly Me To The Moon, Scarlett Johansson revealed that being cast in a Jurassic Park film has been something she's been looking forward to. As she put it:
"I'm an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It's one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly. It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am."
Jurassic Park is the first major Hollywood franchise Scarlett Johansson has been a part of since she departed the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the release of 2021's Black Widow.
The fourth Jurassic World film is the first one to be written by original screenwriter David Koepp since 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The film was announced to be in development in January 2024 and is being directed by Garth Edwards.
Scarlett Johansson expressed her long-time desire to work in a Jurassic Park film
In her interview, Scarlett Johansson spoke of her long-standing desire to get involved in the Jurassic Park franchise since the release of 2015's Jurassic World revival, by whatever means it took:
"I've been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I'm like, 'I'll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I'll do the craft service!' I'll do anything for it. The fact that it's happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable."
She also made note of the fact that David Koepp, the writer for the first two films, is helming the screenplay for the very first time since then:
"The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He's so passionate about it, which is so awesome."
The fourth Jurassic World film features a new cast of characters unrelated to the earlier Jurassic World trilogy helmed by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Universal Pictures is producing the film, and aside from Scarlett Johansson, it also stars Rupert Friend, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, David Icaono, and Audrina Miranda.
The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, known for his 2014 Godzilla film, promises to chart a new direction for the franchise with its fresh cast of characters.
What else is Scarlett Johansson doing?
Scarlett Johansson is currently promoting her upcoming film Fly Me to the Moon, which is set to release on July 12. The film is a period drama set during the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Scarlett stars alongside Channing Tatum as the film explores the relationship between the NASA director and a marketing specialist.
While NASA is planning the Apollo 11 mission, which is historically the first time a manned space mission landed on the moon, NASA also has a backup fake moon landing plan in case things go awry.
Aside from Fly Me to the Moon and the new Jurassic Park film, Scarlett Johansson is also set to voice act in the animated feature Transformers One and will be making her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great.
