Max's latest movie Sweethearts seems to have impressed fans and critics with its dose of college-life nostalgia. The film premiered on November 28, 2024, and has already made an impression, becoming one of the most talked-about recent releases. It comes from Jordan Weiss in her feature directorial debut and stars Kiernan Shipka, Nico Hiraga, and Christine Taylor.

What is Sweethearts about?

From the creator of Hulu's Dollface, Jordan Weiss, Sweethearts is a romantic comedy film that is also the director's debut. It follows two college freshmen who decide to break up with their high school sweethearts over Thanksgiving break, but unexpected twists see them dealing with an immensely chaotic situation.

The synopsis for the movie reads:

"Two college freshmen make a pact to break-up with their high school sweethearts over Thanksgiving break, leading them on a chaotic night out in their hometown that puts their co-dependent friendship to the test."

The cast of the movie comprises Kiernan Shipka, Nico Hiraga, Caleb Hearon, Charlie Hall, Ava DeMary, Joel Kim Booster, Christine Taylor, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Jake Bongiovi, Tramell Tillman, and Chloe Troast.


How to watch Sweethearts

As a movie that did not get a theatrical release and was dropped directly to Max, there is currently no other way to watch the movie without a subscription to the streaming platform. So far, no digital release date for the movie has been announced either, but there will likely be more ways to watch it in the future.

As Max is the only way to watch it for now, those without a subscription can get Max for $9.99/month or $99.99/year for its ad-supported tier.
