Sydney Sweeney claps back at body-shaming critics with intense boxing training for new role

When it comes to the various forms cyberbullying takes, body-shaming is a common one, and Sydney Sweeney fell victim to it recently. However, the Everything Sucks! star refused to let the cyberbullies have the last word.

Body shaming is rampant in online celebrity culture, and celebs have to deal with the same on a regular basis. Recently, several pictures featuring Sweeney, published by The Daily Mail, in a relaxed mood went viral on the internet, and several netizens took to expressing their views in a mean-spirited manner.

However, the actress hit back at the body shamers by exposing them via a video posted on her Instagram profile. Several fans lauded Sweeney for her response while complimenting her career and fitness level.


Sydney Sweeney responds to body-shaming in an inspirational way

In an article published on December 11, 2024, The Daily Mail posted several pictures of the actress as she enjoyed a sunny day at the mansion in the Florida Keys. The Euphoria star seemed to be in a contented mood.

However, several netizens flooded the comment section under the article with messages that shamed the physique and looks of Sweeney. From hurling out epithets like ‘ugly’ and ‘ridiculous’ to calling her ‘chunky,’ the body shamers did not hold back while responding to Sydney Sweeney's new photos.

Sweeney, however, has not let this incident pass silently. A few days after the incident, she posted a montage on her Instagram profile, highlighting some of the mean comments she received online.

The video ends with Sweeney flaunting her fit physique as she is seen training for the role of the boxer Christy Martin for an upcoming project. In the clip, the actress is seen pushing herself to the limit at the gym as she strives to achieve the shape of a boxer.

Though neither the post nor the clip carries any caption, Sydney Sweeney is clearly letting her dedication do all the talking.


Other celebs stand by the actress

As soon as Sydney posted the clip, other celebrities quickly stood by her to show their solidarity. The ballet dancer Violetta Komyshan, for instance, commented:

“They’re just not used to seeing a superhuman 💪”

Glen Powell, Sydney Sweeney’s Anyone But You co-star, chimed in:

“You’re such a badass. This movie is gonna be 🔥”

Similarly, Lili Reinhart took a dig at those who wrote cruel things about other people on the internet. Additionally, she praised Sweeney’s dedication and remarked that it was very inspiring.


Sydney Sweeney’s upcoming projects

Sweeney's career started in 2009, with her starring as Lisa in ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction, directed by Kevin Hamedani. The actress then went on to appear in shows like Heroes and Criminal Minds.

She hit a purple patch in 2019 when she became a household name thanks to her role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria, starring alongside the likes of Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, and Alexia Demie.

As per a report published by Men’s Journal on September 6, 2024, Sydney Sweeney has several projects lined up. She will be seen alongside Julianne Moore in the upcoming film Echo Valley, where she will play Moore's daughter, Claire.

The report also mentions that Sweeney is linked with two other upcoming projects, The Registration and The Caretaker. Apart from these, there is the film on Christy Martin for which the actress is currently preparing.

Sweeney shared some photos on her Instagram profile on October 16, 2024, flaunting the hard work she has been putting in for the Martin biopic. She captioned the post thus:

“Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.”

Thus, fans of the actress can expect their favorite star to come up with stellar projects soon.
