Alien: Romulus has finally been released in theaters today, August 16, 2024. Being the seventh film in the Alien franchise, it is directed by Fede Alvarez, who is best known for helming Don't Breathe and the Evil Dead remake. Alien: Romulus picks up almost 20 years after the first Alien film, and it sees a new crew trying to salvage a derelict spaceship only to meet the wrath of a Xenomorph.

Being the first Alien film in seven years, Alien: Romulus had some huge shoes to fill in, and it looks like the Cailee Spaeny-starrer has certainly won over fans. Taking the franchise back to its roots, the fans have resonated with the style here, with many claiming that this has been the best film in the series since Aliens.

One fan took to X to praise the third act:

"Probably the best one since ALIENS, at least in terms of the tension it creates. Definitely plays some of the greatest hits of the series but in a fun way, and Fede Álvarez directs it really well. Visually terrific, and yes, the third act is BONKERS."
"By far the best alien movie since aliens this movie has a slow start but as it goes along it picks up and when I mean picks up it really f****** picks up this is a movie with great suspense up to the final act," said another fan.

Others commented on how the film has great sci-fi and horror beats to it while also being emotional in places.

"The film hits all the right beats of a sci-fi/horror while never losing its emotional core," said another fan.
"As a huge fan of the Alien series, this movie had everything I was hoping for and more," opined another fan.

Other fans also commented how Alien: Romulus feels like a "full-blown" horror movie while also praising David Jonsson's portrayal of Andy.

"Firing on all cylinders, masterfully using the familiar in unfamiliar ways. Totally a full blown horror movie, and Fede Álvarez gets to use all his twisted tools," said a fan.
"I’ll repeat it again and again and again but @davidjonsson__ will become a powerful superstar in a near future. His performance in #AlienRomulus is absolutely mindblowing he showed acting skills that managed to impress the audience the WHOLE movie. SUPERSTAR," shared another fan.
