The Boat revolves around Joe Azzopardi, who plays the role of a lonely sailor. He stumbles upon an abandoned sailboat while navigating in the open sea. Out of curiosity, he boards the isolated boat only to find himself trapped in it.

Initially, the sailboat seems very isolated, and upon learning that his own boat has vanished mysteriously, he is left stranded. As he explores the sailboat, he soon realizes that the sailboat is preventing him from escaping and strange occurrences slowly begin to unfold. The doors of the sailboat slam shut on their own which traps him inside and the sailboat prevents his escape actively.

How does the Sailor manage to survive in The Boat?

In the film, the sailor seems trapped in a struggle with the sailboat. Every attempt to escape is thwarted. The bathroom door won't open, and the sailboat seems to chase him, no matter how hard he tries to get away. When he sees a cargo ship approaching through the bathroom window, he fears a collision. He throws a rope into the water, which eventually tangles with the propeller and slows down the boat.

But the rope gets stuck in his throat and while trying to get it loose, he passes out on the bathroom floor. The next morning he finds himself alive and hears a sound. He tries kicking open the bathroom door and finds it unlocked. He escapes quickly and goes onto the deck. He finds some sort of buoys and quickly creates a makeshift boat.

He pushes the boat into the water and gets onto it. He sees a ship in the distance and quickly paddles to the ship in the distance. But the sailboat follows him from behind and crashes into his boat. Before being hit, he jumps into the water.

He is greeted by some friendly dolphins swimming near him after he jumps out of the makeshift boat. But while interacting with the friendly dolphins, he realizes that The Boat has come back. Since he has nothing else to do, he jumps back onto the sailboat, finds another bathroom, and dozes off.

The next morning he finds that the door is locked again and through his window, he can see that they are approaching a sea town. He tries opening the window but it doesn't seem to budge. The small door through which he entered earlier swung open and the man goes outside. He escapes the sailboat through the door and wanders around the town. He manages to save himself from the sailboat.

The film depicts the sailor's physical and psychological struggle as he tries to push his limits. He is seen fighting not just for his survival but for his sanity as well.
