The Christmas Quest is Hallmark's new romantic adventure movie, directed by Dustin Rikert, which is set to make its release on December 1, 2024. The movie is written by Rikert in collaboration with Marcy Holland and Andrew Gernhard. Set in the frosty country of Iceland, The Christmas Quest narrates the story of an archeologist, Stefanie, who ventures on an adventure to find the lost treasure of the Yule Lads.

In her journey, she is helped by her ex-husband Chase, an expert in ancient Norse languages. Metting after two years, together the couple ventures into a riveting journey, uncovering some lost secrets.

However, the mission is jammed with fatal risks, freezing temperatures, and unexpected weather conditions. The movie chronicles to document the two characters as they help each other on the journey, contributing with their specialized sets of skills. While in that process, they end up reigniting their past emotions and reconsider giving their relationship a second chance.

Lucy Chabert plays the titular character, Stefanie. In the movie, she is a passionate archaeologist who receives the opportunity to go on a mission to search for the ancient treasure of the Yule Lads, a well-known legend in Iceland's history. In that venture, she needs to take the help of her ex-husband, Chase, who shares detailed knowledge of Norse history.

Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Chabert is an American actress who first began appearing on screen as Bianca Montgomery in All My Children from 1992 to 1993. She further gained recognition playing the role of Claudia Salinger in the teen family drama Party of Five (1994). She also went on to appear in Lost in Space (1998), Daddy Day Care (2003), Mean Girls (2004), and Black Christmas (2006).

Lucy Chabert is a known face in Hallmark, appearing in over 30 movies. Some of her recent works include A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023), Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up (2023), His & Hers (2024), and Hot Frosty (2024).

2) Kristoffer Polaha

Kristoffer Polaha plays the role of Stefanie's ex-husband, Chase, in The Christmas Quest. He is an expert in dead languages who joins Stefanie to decode the ancient scripts that could help them receive detailed instructions on the treasure's location. Meeting after a separation of two years, Chase finds himself breaking from his agonies from the past and falling in love with Stefanie back again.

Polaha is an American actor who is best known for his roles in movies including Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Jurassic World Dominion (2020), A Biltmore Christmas (2023), and The Shift (2023). 3) Jóel Sæmundsson

Jóel Sæmundsson plays the role of Óli Stefánsson in The Christmas Quest. Sæmundsson is an Icelandic actor who is mostly recognized for his comedic roles. Some of his widely recognized screen credits include Pity the Lovers (2019), Love on Iceland (2020), and The Minister (2020).

Isla McRae plays the role of Young Stefanie in the movie, whose mother had a lifelong mission to find the treasure of the Yule Lads. Growing up to become an archaeologist, she ventures on a journey trekking across lava caves with steep roads with flashlights to fulfill her mother's dream.

Isla McRae is a child actress who, other than The Christmas Quest, is set to appear in the upcoming project Project Hail Mary, which is set to be released in 2026.

Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha talk about the filming of The Christmas Quest

In a 13 WTHR article published on November 27, 2024, leading actors Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha discussed their views on the movie. As per Chabert, The Christmas Quest is a real adventure where a separated couple venture on an epic journey together and, in that process, end up working on their past issues. Reflecting on the theme of the movie, Polaha said,

"This is a movie both adults and younger people are going to love because there's the whole 'Indiana Jones,' 'National Treasure' aspect of it, but then, you've got these two adults who are dealing with ancient history, unfinished business."

Polaha added,

"It was the chance of a lifetime. It's so beautiful. We filmed behind waterfalls, in lava caves, on top of a glacier," he continued, "The place was beautiful, and the people were amazing. The culture is unique."

"I love making them. They bring such joy to my life.
