The highly anticipated American action crime thriller film, The Clean Up Crew is scheduled for release on VOD on August 20, 2024. It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Melissa Leo, and Antonio Banderas in leading roles. It is written by Matthew Rogers and directed by Jon Keeyes. A trailer for the same was released on YouTube by Sony Pictures Entertainment on July 30, 2024.

The Clean Up Crew centres around the lives of a group of people who clean up crime scenes in exchange for money. As they go about their regular work their lives are suddenly complicated by the arrival of a special consignment that leads them on to a briefcase full of cash. The discovery puts the group on a criminal mastermind's radar, as well as a few ill-intentioned FBI agents.

When is The Clean Up Crew scheduled for release?

As previously stated, The Clean Up Crew is scheduled for release on Video on Demand on August 20, 2024. As of writing this article, the film is available for preorder on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Fandango at Home.

On Prime, the pricing for the movie's SD, HD, and UHD versions are the same, i.e. $14.99. On Fandango at Home too, the pricing is the same for all versions of the film. Having said that, some people may not be able to rent or purchase the movie from the platforms mentioned due to geographical restrictions. In such cases, VPNs would come in very handy.

Is there a trailer for The Clean Up Crew?

A trailer for The Clean Up Crew was released by Saban Films on YouTube on July 29, 2024. A day after its release, Sony Pictures Entertainment also released the same trailer on their official YouTube channel. The approximately 1 minute 50-second preview delves into a crime scene which necessitates the arrival of a group of cleaners in a van that reads "Good Life Cleaners."

They arrive at the location and go about their work until they are suddenly bewildered by the retrieval of 2 million in cash from a briefcase lodged in the chimney of the house they are cleaning.

Happy with the discovery at first, they are soon made aware of the repercussions of the same by a mob boss who is determined to get his hands on the cash. Complicating things further is a group of morally corrupt FBI agents who also want to lay their claim on the cash resulting in a cat-and-mouse chase involving all three parties.

Why is The Clean Up Crew releasing directly on VOD?

Although no specific reason behind the film exclusively being released on VOD has come up yet, several deductions based on the industry trends can be made. Recently, with the popularity of streaming platforms, there has been a huge shift in audience reception based on the medium of viewing.

For instance, films that have not done well in theatres, have received a new lease on life on several streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. A big example of the same is Robert Downey Jr.'s overlooked legal drama film, The Judge, which quickly climbed on the top 10 ladder on Netflix, following its release this year.

It is possible, that the makers saw the release of The Clean Up Crew on VOD as an opportunity to reach a wider audience resulting in more profits.
