The Killer Shrews, the 1959 Ray Kellogg sci-fi film about surviving a siege of massive venomous mutant creatures, made a big broadcast on Svengoolie on Saturday, July 27, sparking nostalgia among horror movie fanatics.

Described as "fun, hilarious and kinda scary," by movie watchers online, the film follows Captain Thorne Sherman (played by James Best) as he lands his ship on an isolated island to deliver goods to Dr. Marlow Craigis (played by Baruch Lumet).

What was supposedly an uneventful delivery turned chaotic with Sherman discovering that the mad doctor is experimenting on shrinking shrews only to find that the opposite is happening. Before long, the shrews started to become massive and hungry for human flesh, and they had to organize an escape plan before they get eaten alive.

Starring alongside Best and Lumet in the hilarious tale of giant, hungry shrews are Ingrid Goode, Ken Curtis and more.
