The Last Breath is ready to revive your ocean fears back again, with its release on Friday, July 26, 2024. Directed by Joachim Hedén, The Last Breath has set expectations for fans with its trailer, that the movie will bring a similar thrill as the classic Jaws (1975) movie.

Hedén is known for his ocean horror films like Breaking Surface (2020) and The Dive (2023), which unravel the secrets and hidden fears in the underwater world. This time Hedén brings terror introducing the cunning tearing creatures hiding under the ocean's deepest depths, waiting for its prey.

What is The Last Breath about?

Levi is a passionate deep-sea diver, who runs a sea-diving business in the British Virgin Islands for tourists, partnering with Noah, a young recent college dropout.

Their fates seem to take a different turn when Noah discovers a shipwreck under the sea. It turns out to be the remains of the USS Charlotte, a World War II battleship that was submerged in 1944 and has been a mystery since then. This national military treasure emerges eighty years and may have several long-lost secrets.

Sam, Brett, Riley and Logan - Noah's friends - visit the island for a vacation. Together, they plan for a diving adventure into the depths of the sea to find out what's inside the USS Charlotte before the authorities take it away. Levi and Noah are initially reluctant about the plan but soon agree when the tourists offer them a large sum of money.

However, they can't imagine that this decision will change their lives or take it away, as the fun dive into the ocean soon turns into a nightmare. They soon find themselves trapped inside the old shipwreck, unable to find their way in the darkness. What's more terrifying is that there's a man-eating shark inside the ship, who can smell human blood from miles away.

With the air pressure slowly decreasing, the divers soon have to find their way back out of the ocean before they run out of breath.

Who are in the cast of The Last Breath?

1) Julian Sands as Levi

Julia Sands plays the role of Levi, an aging diving guide who runs a sea-exploring business in the British Virgin Islands with a young diver named Noah.

He accepts the risk, thanks to the idea of clearing his debts with the money he could earn. Levi waits for them on the boat for their return, unknown what's happening underneath.

Sands is known for his appearances in films like The Killing Fields (1984), Ocean's Thirteen (2007), A Room with a View (1984) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).

2) Jack Parr as Noah

Parr takes up the role of Noah, a recent college dropout, who has a passion for exploring the sea. He's the one who discovers the shipwreck of the USS Charlotte and invites his friends to the island.

Other than The Last Breath, Parr is known for his appearances in Masters of the Air (2024), Emmerdale Farm (2022), All Those Things (2022) and Peaky Blinders (Peaky Blinders).

3) Kim Spearman as Sam

Spearman plays Sam, one of the tourists coming for the trip, who also happens to be Noah's ex. Sam is a doctor who finds herself in a situation where she has to use the medical supplies available in the shipwreck to save her friends from shark bites.

Spearman has appeared in Isabella (2015), As I Am (2019) and The Young Cannibals (2019).

4) Alexander Arnold as Brett

Arnold plays Brett, one of the freinds who creates unpleasant arguments among the group. But soon Brett realizes that his decisions have led him into utmost danger.

Arnold is an actor and musician known for his roles in A Mother's Son (2012), Skins (2007) and Yesterday (2019).

5) Arlo Carter as Logan

Carter plays the role of Logan, one of the friends who finds himself captured around the hunting ground of the shark.

He got the title of Emerging Brit under the National Youth Film Academy in 2020 and has appeared in Doc Martin (2022), Elevate (2023) and Misunderstood (2023).

6) Erin Mullen as Riley

Mullen appears as Riley, one of the only two female members of the group and Noah's friend. Other than The Last Breath, Mullen has appeared in the TV series Midsomer Murders (2021).
