Avengers 5, titled Avengers: Doomsday, will be released on May 1, 2026. Much before its release, the makers of the movie surprised fans with the return of iconic actor Robert Downey Jr, who will play the role of Doctor Doom.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the Marvel panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, the Russo Brothers and the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, announced the role of Downey in Avengers 5.
Robert Downey Jr has been part of the Marvel Universe since 2008, starting with his role in Iron Man. Over this journey of 16 years, Downey has worked in over 10 Marvel movies. His return to Avengers 5 has spread excitement and enthusiasm throughout the Marvel fans community.

In a video posted by Marvel Studios on Instagram on July 28, 2024, Downey can be seen removing his new mask and revealing his identity.

Since Robert has been famous for playing Iron Man for years, many fans seem confused about his new role, but they are excited about his return.

Robert Downey Jr is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play the role of Victor Von Doom. Downey will play a less heroic role this time than in his previous roles in other Marvel movies.
The makers not only announced the return of RDJ, but Antony Russo and Joseph Russo also confirmed that they will be directing both Avengers 5, also known as Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively.

Robert Downey Jr started his journey in the Marvel Universe with his role as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man in the movie Iron Man.
