Timo Tjahjanto's The Shadow Strays is a hotly anticipated film that is all set to release on Netflix on October 17, 2024, after it made rounds at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. Aurora Ribero stars in the Indonesian film about a teenage trained assassin known as Codename 13, who was facing a suspension after her Japan mission went wrong.
The film, which Tjahjanto wrote, directed, and co-produced, follows Codename13, who goes on a rescue mission to save her 11-year-old friend from the clutches of a crime syndicate. She disobeys her veteran assassin mentor and goes against the organization that hires her assassin skills to keep her friend safe and sound.
The Shadow Strays promises an explosive combination of brutal action scenes, drama, mystery, betrayal, and vengeance that Tjahjanto is known for. The movie also casts Hana Malasan, Ali Fikry, and more.

1) Aurora Ribero as Codename, 13
Aurora Ribero, the Indonesian singer-actress, stars in The Shadow Strays as Codename 13. At 17 years old, Codename 13 is a trained assassin. She is suspected after botching her mission in Japan, although getting booted from the job leads to her eventual meeting with the boy whose friendship she will cherish.
Ribero won Best Actress at the Bandung Film Festival in 2023 for Like & Share. She's worked in numerous Indonesian and English films and TV shows, including Susah Sinyal, Sosmed, and The Blue Hearts.
2) Hana Malasan as Agent Umbra
The Bandung, Indonesia-born movie actress plays a strong female in The Shadow Strays as the veteran assassin Umbra. She is Codename 13's strict mentor who sent the teenage trained assassin to Jakarta after her mission in Japan goes awry.
Since her debut as Sita in the 2019 TV mini-series Tunnel, Malasan has worked on a dozen projects on television and film. Her other best works include Serigala Terakhir, 12 Hari, Susuk, and The Train of Death.
3) Ali Fikry as Monji
The young actor, who admittedly loves martial arts, joins The Shadow Strays as Monji, a seven-year-old in the clutches of a crime syndicate. He bonds with 13 during the latter's downtime, and when he disappears, 13 becomes a path of destruction to get him to safety.
Fikry has worked on over a dozen projects, including movies, series, and soap operas. Some of his best-known works are The Heaven None Missed 3, 24 Hours with Gaspar, and Nussa: The Movie.
4) Andri Mashandi as Ariel
The Copenhagen, Denmark-born actor plays the antagonist, Ariel, in the forthcoming martial arts movie. He plays a sadistic boss of a crime syndicate who likes to wear a leather mask before he murders people.
Mashandi has worked with Malasan in Tunnel and has been on numerous shows and films since 2017. He worked in Write Me a Love Song, Induk Gajah, Harlot's Prayer, and Tjahjanto's The Big 4.
5) Adipati Dolken as Prasetyo
The Indonesian model and actor plays the villainous role of Prasetyo in The Shadow Strays. He's a crooked cop, and one of the criminals slash henchmen who will get in 13's way.
Dolken won Best Supporting Actor at the 2013 Indonesia Film Festival for The Clerics. He's also worked in nearly 50 television and big-screen titles, including Namamu Kata Pertmaku, Pertaruhan: The Series, and Perfect Strangers.
