Twilight, released on November 21, 2008, is a romantic fantasy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke. The movie is based on Stephenie Meyer’s 2005 novel.

After coming out on November 4, 2008, the Twilight soundtrack is still one of the best-selling in the US since the movie Chicago. It topped the Billboard charts and sold 165,000 copies in its first week. It matched the film's emotional intensity and mystery with rock, alternative, and orchestral music.

The film was shot entirely in Oregon and Washington. After this film, there were four sequels: New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012).

Carter Burwell: Music composer behind Twilight

Born November 18, 1954, Carter Burwell is an American film composer distinguished by his expressive and unique scores. Having a decades-long career, he is honored for his continuous cooperation with the Coen brothers, and he has worked in films including Miller's Crossing and In Bruges.

Burwell has also worked with directors such as Todd Haynes, Martin McDonagh, and Spike Jonze. Burwell wrote the original Twilight score in 2008, and it became a defining feature of the movie. One particularly delicate mirror of the romantic but enigmatic tone of the film is his song, Bella's Lullaby.

Burwell's contributions to film include several acclaimed scores, such as those for Carol and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, both of which received Academy Award nominations.

Plot of the movie

Young Bella Swan, 17, moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to Forks, Washington, to live with her police chief father, Charlie. After adjusting to her new life, she becomes interested in Edward Cullen, a mysterious and quiet classmate.

The mysterious Cullen family's Edward seems turned off by Bella. Bella discovers his supernatural secret after he saves her from a car accident. Bella learns from reading and talking to other people that Edward is a vampire who, unlike most of his kind, only drinks blood from animals. Even though Edward tells her not to, Bella is drawn to him, and they fall deeply in love.

To meet his family, Edward takes Bella to meet Carlisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie. His family is wary of the relationship, but they back it up. However, things get dangerous when three vampires on the run, James, Victoria, and Laurent, appear in Forks.

James, a tracker vampire, can't get Bella off his mind because of how she smells. To keep Bella safe, the Cullen family finds a way to hide her. However, James sets a trap for her, showing how she used to dance. While they are arguing, James bites Bella and gives her poison. Bella doesn't turn into a vampire because Edward can take the poison out of her wrist. The Cullen family kills James.

At the movie's end, Bella and Edward go to prom together, and she tells him she wants to become a vampire, but he denies it. Victoria, meanwhile, stands far away and vows to get revenge for James' death.
