Netflix added Umjolo: The Gone Girl to its library on November 8, 2024. Fikile Mogodi directs this romantic comedy. The film stars Shezi Sibongiseni as Lethu and Tyson Mathonsi as Lucky in lead roles, among others.
Lethu, an event planner and work enthusiast who is unlucky in love, is the subject of the movie. She becomes engaged to her lover, Lucky, at the start of the movie. Nevertheless, she leaves Lucky at the end of the movie and her engagement does not last very long.

How does Lethu find out that Lucky is cheating on her in Umjolo: The Gone Girl?

A few minutes into Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Lethu learns that she has a urinary tract infection after she and Lucky get engaged and their love life is going well. The doctor who examines her at the clinic tells her that it is not a UTI but rather chlamydia. After three years of only having s*x with her fiancé Lucky, she eventually becomes perplexed and does not comprehend how she can contract this disease.
However, she quickly discovers that the problem is with Lucky, rather than herself. Disappointed, she returns home and waits for Lucky. She questions him about it when he returns late at night, and Lucky admits that he had a one-time, drunken affair with another girl. After hearing Lucky's confession, Lethu retires to bed feeling devastated and disappointed.
Next up in Umjolo: The Gone Girl, when Lucky's phone pings several times during the night, Lethu becomes even more suspicious. When she checks his phone and finds a ton of text messages from other women Lucky has slept with, her heart stops for a moment. Lucky still denies it after being caught red-handed and she confronts him once more and later requests that he leave the house.
Later in the film, she gives her engagement ring back to Lucky and leaves for her grandmom's home, for some peace of mind.
The reunion
Next up in Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Lethu tells her grandmother the truth about Lucky when they meet. Nevertheless, she persuades Lethu that she should win her man's loyalty if he isn't already. In the meantime, Lucky makes multiple attempts to get in touch with Lethu and strives to alter himself.
When Lethu eventually makes it home, Lucky informs her that he will never be able to sleep with a single woman for the rest of his life. Despite his love for Lethu and his desire for her to be the mother of his children, he also desires the freedom to have affairs with other women.
Later in Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Lucky, and Lethu open up their relationship but agree to not sleep with anybody they know. But the pair may, nevertheless, hook up with strangers.
Soon, Lucky resumes his previous routine of hooking up with random women every day and returning home each evening. Lethu, meantime, wants to sleep with a stranger and hence goes on a date, but her love for Lucky prevents her from engaging in amorous acts. She returns home later that evening and makes love to Lucky, after a failed hookup attempt.
Why does Lethu leave Lucky?
From the beginning of Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Lethu is very excited to plan an extraordinary Jama wedding. In the final moments of the film, she plans it to perfection with her team. While the event is going on, she comes into the planning room and finds Lucky making love with her best friend Amanda.
Lethu finally discovers that Lucky has been having an affair with Amanda. While Lethu thought of Amanda as her loyal best friend, since the inception of Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Amanda has betrayed her.
But when she discovers Amanda and Lucky half-naked, she asks Lucky to go and doesn't hear any apologies or justifications this time. Amanda's position at Lethu's event management company is likewise terminated by the latter.
At the end of Umjolo: The Gone Girl, Lethu realizes that she deserves better and must thus let go of this toxic relationship. Anything which interferes with her tranquility and peace of mind is not worth it.
