The multi-talent artist has been nominated for 7 BAFTA awards and has previously acted in Prometheus, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Devil.
The film takes place in the future year 2046 and follows Logan Marshall-Green's character Grey Trace, an auto technician who is the victim of a horrific mugging. Grey is left immobile, but Trace is given the option of undergoing an experimental procedure that inserts artificial intelligence into his body.
Grey agrees to the procedure, which will heal him and increase his strength, speed, and durability. With his new abilities, Grey decides to track down the men who mugged him, transforming Upgrade into an incredible Sci-Fi thriller revenge flick.
Melanie Vallejo as Asha Trace
Born on October 27, 1979, Melanie Vallejo is an Australian actress best known for her appearances as Sophie Wong in the Australian TV series Winners & Losers and the Blue Mystic Ranger in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
Vallejo appears in the 2018 film Upgrade as Asha Trace. Trace works in technology for Cobalt, a corporation that develops human-computer augmentations. She is Grey's wife who is cruelly slain, sparking his revenge mission.
Betty Gabriel as Detective Cortez
Betty Gabriel was born on January 6, 1981, in Washington, D.C. She is most known for her roles in Blumhouse horror films. She originally rose to prominence as Laney Rucker in The Purge: Election Year (2016), subsequently receiving great critical praise for her turn as Georgina in Get Out.
In Upgrade Gabriel plays Detective Cortez. Cortez is a capable detective who provides an authoritative ethical voice throughout the film. She first fails to pinpoint Grey's assailants, but later finds herself attempting to get answers about Grey's vigilante executions using STEM.
Detective Cortez is one step behind the facts due to STEM outwitting her, but she has remained strong in her determination to find the truth and execute the law. The Sci-Fi horror was a box office triumph, grossing $17 million on a $2 million budget and more than recouping its costs. However, it needed to be more excellent to justify developing a sequel to the film.
Benedict Hardie as Fisk Brantner
Benedict Hardie as Fisk Brantner: Originally from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, he is most remembered for his role as Marc in The Invisible Man. Hardie stars as Fisk Brantner, the ringleader of the assailants who kill Asha and cripple Grey in Upgrade. Initially, he is the film's major adversary. The actor has also portrayed Captain Daniels in Hacksaw Ridge and Mike in Carmen.
Other supporting roles in the future horror thriller Upgrade included Harrison Gilbertson as Eron Keen, Linda Cropper, who plays Grey's mother, Pamela, while Simon Maiden voices STEM, the computerized robot that controls Grey's actions.
