Leading the cast of the Netflix mystery thriller is Riccardo Scamarcio in the role as Pietro, a father with a tragic backstory, who's going through a rough divorce with his wife, Elena. Scamarcio is an Italian actor and producer who has done films like Three Steps Over Heaven, Quasi Orfano and The Shadow of the Day.
Elena is an American psychiatrist who moved to Italy to be with Pietro before their marriage broke down. She's played by Annabelle Wallis, who's recognized for her roles in The Mummy, Peaky Blinders and The Silencing.
The lead actors are joined by Massimiliano Gallo (Napoli Milionaria, Filumena Marturano), Gerhard Koloneci (Grazie Ragazzi, Il Ladro Di Giorni) and Bruno Ricci (My Afternoons with Margueritte, Ten minutes from naturists) in supporting roles in Vanished Into the Night.
Plot synopsis and trailer
Vanished Into the Night follows the story of Pietro and Elena, who married for love, but soon their relationship turned sour, leading to a divorce.
They are engaged in a battle for custody of their children, and to exacerbate matters, one day they find their two kids to have vanished into the night while they were staying with Pietro.
Things soon take a dark turn when Pietro gets a call demanding ransom money if they want their children alive and safe again with them. He has to pay within 36 hours and must do anything to get his hands on the huge sum of €150,000 to save his children. As tension rises between the two, will they be able to work together to find their missing children?
Vanished Into the Night official synopsis by Netflix reads as follows:
“Elena is an American psychiatrist who came to live in Italy, in Puglia, for the love of Pietro, a man with a stormy past. They married and had two children, but things didn’t work out, and soon Pietro and Elena broke up.
"One night, their children vanish while they are with Pietro at the farm. He looks for them everywhere and, in the end, in desperation. He is forced to warn Elena, who is in a dispute over custody of the children. Until they receive a phone call: their children have been kidnapped, to get them back they will have to pay 150,000 euros in cash within 36 hours.”
