Smile 2 was released in the United States on October 18, 2024. Parker Finn's film continues with its mind-bending story, leaving viewers questioning reality. The sequel, which follows the 2022 hit Smile, features new characters and deeper mysteries. This sequel continues the horror legacy and can be watched on Paramount+.
In the sequel to Smile, Morris plays a significant role in helping Skye, the main character, as she battles a terrifying entity. Fans wonder if Morris, the ER nurse, was real or a creation of the sinister entity. The film keeps this ambiguous, making the audience doubt what is real throughout the film.
Riley is a pop star trying to make a comeback after a terrible accident. The Smile Entity, a demon that eats its hosts, keeps coming back to haunt her. It is known to make its victims do horrible things and then spread the curse to other people.
Skye's journey is full of scary dreams, hallucinations, and a strong desire to get away from the curse. She meets Morris along the way, and his mysterious role makes her mind even more unstable.
Morris in Smile 2: Is he real?
Some viewers believe Morris is real at the beginning of Smile 2 when he meets Skye. However, others argue that Morris was never real and is a creation of the entity or a product of Skye's hallucination. His actions and timing seem too convenient, raising doubts about his existence.
In the beginning, Morris is shown as an ER nurse who says he knows how to beat the Smile Entity. He tries to get in touch with Skye and gives her important information that will help her break the curse. He tells Skye that the entity can be stopped if the host's body dies for a short time, which suggests that he is telling the truth. Skye finds hope in this plan, which motivates her to plan a course of action.
The first encounter with Morris in Smile 2
Skye meets Morris for the first time in a bar, where the latter tells the former about his brother's experience with the Smile Entity. Apparently, his brother had seemingly fallen victim to the supernatural force. He explains that before Skye, his brother was the victim, and since the latter's death, Morris has been tracking the entity.
At the time, his brother tried to warn him about what was happening, but Morris didn’t believe him. Tragically, the Smile Entity caused his brother to tear off his jaw with a crowbar, and the police ruled it as suicide.
Morris tells Skye that he is acquainted with medical procedures that could save her life. He talks about his plan to temporarily stop her heart, which will prompt the entity to leave her body. Once the entity is out, she will be revived again. Skye is not sure about Morris, but she is desperate and decides to trust him.
The abandoned Pizza Hut scene
Skye and Morris meet at an empty Pizza Hut in one of the most intense parts of Smile 2. Morris gets ready to carry out his plan by setting up medical tools to temporarily stop her heart.
However, before he can finish the process, Skye starts to experience scary hallucinations. Morris is reportedly taken over by the Smile Entity, who looks like her dead boyfriend. It's not clear if Morris was ever there or if this was just another trick the entity played on Skye.
Even though Morris may have been pursuing the Smile Entity before the events of the original Smile, he figured out it was targeting Skye during Smile 2. As Morris recounts, he has been following the entity ever since his brother’s death.
He notes that Skye is the eighth victim since his brother, meaning he has tracked the entity through every victim seen in the Smile series, including Laura, Rose, and Joel. Unfortunately, he was too late to save anyone until he managed to reach Skye before the entity could kill her.
