Directed by Shawn Levy and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture, Deadpool & Wolverine arrived on the big screens on July 26, 2024. This epic long-awaited superhero saga also referred to as the MCU saviour, introduces mutants in the MCU for the first time.
Deadpool & Wolverine is all set to collect a massive $320 million approximately on its opening weekend, making it the first R-rated movie with the highest opening weekend.
Fans of Jackman and Reynolds have waited over a decade for the duo to be on the big screen together again, helming roles they were poised for. The last time these superheroes were seen on screen was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).
Fans and viewers who have already witnessed the superhero saga on screen after its release have taken over X, praising Jackman, Reynolds, and Shawn Levy. A fan on X talked about Deadpool & Wolverine and how it can be considered movie of the year.
"We waited 20 years to see Hugh Jackman in Wolverine's costume & every minute is WORTH IT! My theater went ENDGAME LEVEL NUTS. Marvel Studios has MOVIE OF THE YEAR on their hands again. BEST MULTIVERSE STORY since Spider-Man: No Way Home. LET'S F***** GO!"
After seeing the movie, several fans on X expressed admiration for it.
"I saw it just a little while ago with three of my brothers and one of my best friends we all came out saying the same thing that movie was so good," a user commented.
"It was so damn good. I never go to the theater to rewatch movies but I'd do it for this one," another netizen wrote.
"Same man. I just got back home from watching it and my theater went ballistic." Another viewer commented.
Some fans did not find the MCU saviour film up to the mark. Some fans expressed how it could have been better, while some found the movie good but not great.
"I loved Marvel movies since I was a kid, but this sh*t could have been the best Deadpool movie ever, It wasn't," a user wrote on X.
"That's not exactly saying much since everything post endgame has been a disaster except for no way home. Deadpool was good but not great." Another user commented on X.
"Come on mate, it was mid. No great story, Wolverine's character didn't have an emotional core and the Climax was messed up. A solid 6.5," another netizen commented.
Several other MCU fans did not hold back from expressing how much they liked this superhero saga, the script, the jokes, and everything about Deadpool & Wolverine.
"This movie was more comic book accurate, the dialogues, the situations, the fights." A user commented.
"True Fans of the mcu will love it! 10/10 for me idc what critics say!" another user wrote.
"Dude! Worth the wait…so worth it. F**king perfection." Another netizen commented.
Deadpool & Wolverine setting up mutants in the MCU
The Deadpool & Wolverine movie is an homage to many characters from the 20th Century Fox era of X-Men and other superheroes that are now forgotten. This list of superheroes includes Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade, and Channing Tatum as Gambit (which was not green-lit by the studios, so production never took off).
Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige talks about how Marvel is setting up the Mutant Saga on the press tour, and it's the next big thing the studio is working towards. With an introduction to these characters, a roster of superheroes and A-List actors will now be in Marvel's sandbox of ideas, and viewers can anticipate this collaboration.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now available to watch in theatres.
