Demi Moore finally won a major award for her acting in the latest Golden Globes Awards, where the actress was presented the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film award, beating a hoard of young and talented actors like Zendaya and Mikey Madison. Moore had to wait long for this to arrive, but the 62-year-old actress never really resigned herself to age, something she has always been vocal about.

In an interview from 2022 with PEOPLE, Demi Moore shared her excitement about turning 60 and debunked certain thoughts that occur with increasing age. In the interview, Moore said that she was feeling more alive than ever nearing her 60s and she also clarified how not all women want to feel matronly at that age.

Moore told PEOPLE in 2022 while discussing her collection for the inclusive swimwear brand Andie:

"It's changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older...We don't want to look matronly or not feel sexy."

She added:

"Not being defined by a number and instead being defined by my experience. You hit 59 and you're already thinking, 'Well, I'm going to be 60.' It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever."

Now, with this award and her brilliant performance in The Substance, Demi Moore has further proved that age is indeed just a number and it is never too late to start feeling like yourself.

"To hear that in relation to yourself seems a bit out-of-body"- Demi Moore on being referred to as an "icon"

Demi Moore has been considered an icon long before she picked up her first major acting award. From roles that have surpassed their time, Moore has over four decades in the industry and has been one of the top names throughout.

Needless to say, this has probed a lot of people to call her a legend and an icon, something that the actress finds hard to grapple with. In the same interview where she discussed aging, Moore also opened up about this, saying:

"To hear that in relation to yourself seems a bit out-of-body...I feel flattered and a bit like, that doesn't feel like me, but I like it. To me, what an icon has always signified is somebody who's paved a way and marked something that has moved people or had impact that has been positive. And in that regard, I feel really proud to be put in a category that would be related to that."

With her more recent achievements, this image of Moore will change for the better. And with her enthusiasm and talent, there may still be many intriguing roles that Demi Moore may take on in the future.

Ironically, The Substance, Moore's latest movie is about the insecurity that an aging actress faces and the drastic measures she takes to get back her youth. Moore, in real life, seems more satisfied with her older self and will perhaps never wish to be young.

With the award season fast approaching, Demi Moore will remain a serious contender for some big accolades.
