Mickey 17 is an upcoming science fiction film that has been written, directed, and produced by Bong Joon-ho. The film is based on the 2022 novel titled Mickey7 by author Edward Ashton.
The main storyline of the film revolves around a space colonist who tries to survive in an alien planet. He must undertake dangerous missions to colonize the aliens in their ice world named Niflheim.
Actor Robert Pattinson plays the titular role of Mickey Barnes, who is the expendable employee sent on the expedition to Niflheim. In the story, he regenerates with a new body and the same memories when one version of him gets destroyed.

What do we know about the release of Mickey 17 at present?
Oscar-winning South Korean director Bong Joon Ho's next film Mickey 17 is set to hit theaters worldwide on January 31, 2025. However, it will be released in South Korea on January 28, 2025, three days before the global release.
The filming started on August 2, 2022 and concluded in December 2022, after which it went through post-production and the above mentioned release delays. It was produced at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden.
The film was originally scheduled to be released on March 29, 2024. But, it was taken off the release schedule due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
