What happened to Floyd in Trolls Band Together? Explained

Released on November 17, 2023, Trolls Band Together was the highly anticipated sequel to the jukebox musical fantasy film Trolls World Tour released in 2020. It was the third entry in the Trolls franchise based on the Good Luck Trolls dolls by Thomas Dam. The movie was written by Elizabeth Tippet and directed by Walt Dohrn. It was produced by DreamWorks Animation.

The plot of Trolls Band Together is centered majorly around Floyd's kidnapping by two Mount Rageon teenagers Velvet and Veneer, who wanted to use Floyd's essence to advance their musical careers. They entrapped him in a perfume bottle in a hidden location and used his powers to earn themselves the ability to sing.

Floyd was eventually discovered by his friends and family. However, by the time they located him, he was already weak from all the extractions conducted on him to retrieve his magical essence. Despite the continued efforts of his loved ones, Floyd tragically passed away. Nevertheless, he regains consciousness shortly thereafter.

Floyd was captured by Mount Rageon teenagers in Trolls Band Together

The beginning of Trolls Band Together, in a series of flashbacks, sheds light on the existence of a boy band called BroZone, made up of Branch and his four elder brothers John Dory, Spruce, Clay, and Floyd. It also revealed the cause of the band's breakup, ultimately leading the brothers to pursue separate paths.

After the flashbacks conclude, in the present day, the audiences are given a glimpse at all the involved members' lives as Branch is interrupted by his brother John Dory during a marriage ceremony, informing him that their brother Floyd was captured and tortured by two Mount Rageon teenagers, Velvet and Veneer.

John further informs that Floyd is being kept in a diamond-shaped perfume bottle from which his essence is being extracted to allow the two teenagers to sing. He requests Branch to join him in his rescue mission as he will be unable to do the same on his own.

He also speaks about the importance of the "Perfect Family Harmony," which is the only way Floyd could be saved. However, the condition is that they must be accompanied by their other siblings as well. If everyone did not join in singing the harmony, they would not be able to rescue Floyd.

How was Floyd saved in Trolls Band Together?

As previously stated, Floyd in Trolls Band Together was captured by two Mount Rageon teenagers, Velvet and Veneer. They wanted to extract his essence to aid them in their singing careers. They placed Floyd on shoulder pads designed to extract essences from trolls like him, to be used in a myriad of ways.

These extraction processes were generally physically taxing and left Floyd drained and pale. However, his conditions did not stop Velvet and Veneer from exploiting him. The Mount Rageon teenagers were in for a haul when all of Floyd's brothers arrived at their location to save him, and they were able to capture them all.

Shortly after, the brothers released themselves from the diamond-shaped entrapments by singing the "Perfect Family Harmony" together. Although they managed to escape the cages, Floyd's death was ultimately caused by the exhaustion from the singing. Nevertheless, he was quickly rejuvenated by reestablishing the bonds between his brothers.
