What is the movie all about? Plot and trailer explored
The Killer follows the story of Zee, a mysterious and infamous assassin known and feared in the Parisian underworld as the Queen of the Dead. But during one of her assignments from her shadowy mentor and handler, Zee refuses to kill a blinded young woman in a Paris nightclub.
Her decision throws apart Zee's life and attracts the attention of a police investigator, and she's plunged into a sinister world of criminal conspiracy that makes her come face to face with her past.
The Killer has a screenplay written by Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland and the screenwriting team of Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken.
It's produced by Academy Award winner Charles Roven, Alex Gartne, and John Woo himself. Joining as executive producers are Terence Chang, Mark Gordon, Matt Jackson and Robin Mulcahy Fisichella.
Talking about his classic, Woo said:
“Zee is a lonely and oppressed assassin, and Sey is an honest but tough cop. They share a sense of decency and have the same values in terms of justice.
"Fate has brought them together, but they have a very different style and approach to things. The two develop a very memorable friendship and sense of appreciation for each other after the events that open the film.”
A remake of The Killer has been in the talks for a long time, and Woo himself announced he would direct the remake in 2017.
The Killer is a classic action thriller that kickstarted the whole gun-fu subgenre in both Hong Kong in the 1980s and then Hollywood in the 1990s. This is a fantasy subgenre set in a world of slick professional killers for hire living in the shadows.
