The story of the Unstoppable Anthony Robles
Anthony Robles was born in 1988 with a missing right leg to a 16-year-old mother. Despite his handicap, a young Anthony was determined to make sure that his abilities, rather than his disability, should be the first thing people knew about him.
At 14, Anthony joined the wrestling team at his school in Mesa, Arizona. He was underweight and clearly an underdog, finishing in last place at the Mesa City Wrestling Tournament in his first year.
Instead of letting this demoralize him, Anthony rose to the challenge. With immense grit, determination, hard work, and unwavering support from his mother and coaches, he became a two-time Arizona State Champion and a high school National Champion with a 96-0 record.
Choosing a college was difficult for Anthony since most of them did not think he could wrestle at the national level. However, true to his nature, he proved them all wrong by becoming the All-American Champion thrice and the NCAA National Champion in 2011 in the 125-pound weight class.
He went to college at Arizona State University, where he had to prove himself before he could be included in the team. His decision to go to ASU was influenced by several problems at home, including an abusive stepfather. He was the oldest of five siblings and wanted to be close to his family. He even worked at the airport to support them.
Unstoppable illuminates the struggles he has faced in his life, both on and off the wrestling mat. It shows how he has persevered through all the challenges thrown at him simply by believing in himself and working hard to achieve the impossible.
