Adam Sandler is all set to shoot the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel to the 1996 hit Happy Gilmore. The production has announced auditions for New Jersey-based extras for the shoot.

Happy Gilmore 2 is expected to start shooting from September to November and will debut on Netflix sometime next year after post-production is complete. New Jersey has been announced as the filming location for the sequel.

The final casting call for the feature film wrapped up on August 20, 2024, at the Plaza Ballroom in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Morristown. The official announcement of the film by Netflix's Tudum reads:

"Adam Sandler is returning to the golf green as Happy Gilmore, and he’s bringing his powerful slap shot with him. No word on any alligators. Stay tuned for more as we follow Happy Gilmore’s triumphant return to the world of sports."

Everything to know about Happy Gilmore 2

The news of Happy Gilmore 2 was confirmed by Adam Sandler in March 2024, when he appreared on The Dan Patrick Show.

The actor mentioned that they had a million ideas for the film but didn't want fans of the original to be let down in any case. He expressed his love for the franchise and hopes he can bring the same emotion out for fans.

While distribution partner Netflix hasn't announced a date for the film's premiere, shooting is expected to take place from September to November this year. The sequel will mainly be filmed in New Jersey, also called the Garden State. That's because there will be many green agricultural locations that might mimic a golf green for Happy Gilmore 2.

It remains to be seen how the film's main casting will be done. Actors like Carl Weathers, Bob Barker and Joe Flaherty are no more, which means the film's plot will have to be woven accordingly.
