It continues:

"Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner's ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America."

As mentioned earlier, Horizon: An American Saga has been majorly filmed across rural areas in Utah. The mountainous terrain of the state is a great backdrop for any Western film. The state possesses a diverse geography, ranging from rugged and arid dunes to snow-capped mountains and lush pine forests.

Utah is also home to many indigenous tribes, and the production team worked with them to ensure an authentic representation of their cultural history in addition to employing their natural reserves. Filming at sites such as the Paiute Indian Reservation's Shivwits Band displayed the commitment to protecting the area and its native people.

Here is a look at the most prominent filming locations of Horizon: An American Saga:

Shivwits Reservation

The Shivwits Reservation is home to the Indigenous group called the Shivwits Band of Paiutes. The scenic natural reserve consists of beautiful red rock cliffs with surrounding lakes. The area is known to be a historical agricultural site and also contains several historical Paiute artifacts. The historical context of the area fits perfectly with the narrative of the film while the location adds to its visual charm.

Apple Valley

Apple Valley is a town in Washington, Utah. The area consists of forest cover which is a departure from arid areas of Western Utah. The area is populated with creeks, hiking trails, and a gorgeous water canyon.

The Zion National Park is a Utah gem that is known for its iconic canyons, sandstone cliffs, and a variety of flora and fauna. The park has been featured heavily in Costner's film as it provides a well-maintained natural landscape that can mimic the Old West during the 19th century.

Moab

Moab is a city in eastern Utah, which serves as a gateway to the lush Arches National Park. The Colorado River and the Green River have formed mesas and buttes, which are magnificent landscapes to look at. The area also boasts a rich history dating back to the era of dinosaurs. The Moab countryside is an amalgamation of all things the Old Western American scenery is associated with.

The first chapter of Horizon: An American Saga has already been released in theaters on June 28, 2024. The second chapter of the film will follow closely with a scheduled release date of August 16, 2024.
