The Forge is a Christian biblical drama film directed by Alex Kendrick, from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother Stephen Kendrick. This is the ninth collaboration between the brothers who are known for making faith-based films. The film is a spin-off of the Kendrick's hit film War Room.

The Forge is set in a small town and was shot in Albany, Georgia. It tells the story of Isaiah Wright, a high school graduate who has some growing up to do. The rebellious boy reluctantly gets a job and begins to learn some valuable lessons of faith, discipline and community. The film was shot last year in Albany, sometime between June and July.

The film is set to release on August 23, 2024. It stars an ensemble cast of Cameron Arnett, Priscilla Shirer, Aspen Kennedy, Karen Abercrombie, T.C. Stallings, BJ Arnett and Ken Bevel.

Where was The Forge filmed?

The filming of The Forge was done entirely in Albany, Georgia. The beautiful city full of friendly people is where the Kendricks grew up.

Albany is where their filmmaking journey started, and the duo expressed their excitement to partner with the beautiful people, local businesses and the vibrant church community to make the film.

Several scenes of the streets and local shops of Albany can be seen in the trailer. There's an ariel shot of the town, succeeded by a shot of Aspen Kennedy riding a bike through a busy street of the town.

This film takes place in the same cinematic world as Kendrick's other popular film War Room, which was released in 2015. War Room was filmed in North Carolina, in places including Charlotte, Kannapolis, Concord, Hickory and Birkdale Village. Several characters from War Room make an appearance in this film as well.

What is the film about?

The film follows Isaiah Wright, son of a religious mother named Cynthia, and a high school graduate.

Isaiah has no direction or seriousness towards his life even one year after his high school as he passes time casually playing basketball and video games. He's challenged by Cynthia to take responsibility for his own life.

Isaiah reluctantly takes a job at Joshua Moore's company, Moore Fitness. Joshua is a man of faith, who begins to mentor the directionless boy towards faith and discipline. With the help and support from his mother, Miss Clara, Joshua, and his comrades, Isaiah begins to see the direction towards a disciplined and purposeful life.
