Released on December 25, 1993, the American Western film Tombstone starring Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Michael Biehn and Powers Boothe was filmed in some of the most iconic locations in and around The United States. This was done in an attempt to stay true to the movie's theme set in a specific moment in history.
To achieve authenticity in terms of the film's narrative, Tombstone was majorly filmed in parts of Arizona, in locations that had strong resemblances to places in the 1880s, the era in which the events of the film take place.
The Old Tucson Studios in Mescal, Arizona, was one of the primary filming locations for the movie. Other important locations included Babacomari Ranch, Sonoita, Arizona; Granite Mountain, Prescott, Arizona; and the San Pedro River, Sonora, Arizona.

Some of the locations that were used for filming crucial parts of Tombstone include:
The Old Tucson Studios in Mescal, Arizona
As previously mentioned, a large chunk of Tombstone was filmed at The Old Tucson Studios in Mescal, Arizona.
The studio served as the perfect setting for some of the most memorable moments in the movie, including the scene between Doc and Ringo containing one of the film's most famous dialogues “I’ll be your Huckleberry”.
The Old Tucson Studios is situated west of Tucson, Arizona, conterminous to the Tucson Mountains. It functions as a theme park as well as a movie studio. The Studio was constructed in 1939. Since then, it has served as the ideal location for several Western movies and television shows.
Babacomari Ranch, Sonoita, Arizona
Babacomari Ranch, Sonoita, in Arizona is another location that played a pivotal part in Tombstone's narrative.
A running plotline in the film was the enmity between Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo. Their hatred peaks when the two decide to fight each other outside town. The fictional ranch where the characters have their duel is Babacomari Ranch in Sonoita, Arizona.
The Babacomari Ranch, in Sonoita, Arizona is a family-owned and operated Cattle Ranch established in 1935. It's located in the Babacomari Valley, situated within the abundant savanna rangelands of Southeast Arizona.
Granite Mountain, Prescott, Arizona
Granite Mountain in Prescott, Arizona served as the location for filming some of the scenes between Kurt Russell's Wyatt Earp and Dana Delany's Josephine Marcus.
One of the initial encounters between the romantically inclined pair takes place at the location. The scene where the two take a horseback ride down a mountain is filmed in Granite Mountain in Prescott.
Situated in Yavapai County, Arizona, Granite Mountain covers an area of about 12 square miles. The mountain is located at the northern edge of the Sierra Prietas and is adjacent to Skull Valley on its western side.
San Pedro River, Sonora, Arizona
Besides the Old Tucson Studios, San Pedro River, in Sonora, Arizona, was also one of the locations that were used for filming one of the most memorable parts of Tombstone.
During a particularly intense fight scene in the movie, Kurt Russell's Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday Doc get singled out by Powers Boothe's Curly Bill and his gang near a river, which is the San Pedro River in Sonora, Arizona.
The San Pedro River is a unique northward-flowing river, which emerges approximately 10 miles south of the international border south of Sierra Vista, Arizona, in Cananea Municipality, Sonora, Mexico.
