What is Diving into the Unknown about?
Diving into the Unknown is a movie about four Finnish cave divers who go on a difficult journey after two of their friends die in an accident while exploring underwater caves in Plurdalen, Norway.
The film starts by showing the team's initial plan, which was to dive through the dangerous Pluragrotta cave system, requiring them to go through ice and dive to depths of more than 130 meters. Unfortunately, two team members, Jari Huotarinen and Jari Uusimäki, died inside the cave. Even after numerous tries and the involvement of international bodies, their corpse was not retrieved and the official missions were stopped.
The divers who are still alive are not ready to give up, and because of their loyalty and determination, they make a secret plan to go back and get the bodies of their friends.
With the help of a strong team and the documentary crew, the divers go back to the underwater cave. They had cameras on their helmets to record their entire dangerous journey.
Despite the challenges, the team manages to bring the bodies back up to the surface and avoids any trouble with the Norwegian authorities. The movie shows the difficult emotions and physical demands the divers face as they put their lives in danger to honor their dead friends.
