Winter in Vail is a Hallmark Channel original movie directed by Terry Ingram. Written by Delondra Mesa and Duane Poole, the film stars Lacey Chabert and Tyler Hynes in lead roles. The made-for-television movie premiered on January 4, 2020, and is the first film from Hallmark's Winterfest film series.

Alberta, Canada

The Los Angeles lunch showcased in the film's opening scene was shot at the Azuridge Estate Hotel in the hamlet of Priddis, Alberta. Similarly, the exterior and interior scenes of The Sebastian Lodge were also filmed at the same location.

The Italian Farmhouse in Bragg Creek, southern Alberta, was presented as Edelweiss Restaurant in the film. Furthermore, Uncle Grady’s chalet was filmed at a private home in Bragg Creek.

Several exterior mountain sequences were shot within the famous Banff National Park, located an hour west of Calgary. The Gondola base station and gondola ride were filmed at the Sunshine Village ski resort in Banff National Park.

Lastly, the sequence where Chelsea and Owen go snowtubing was shot at Mount Norquay in Banff.

Vail, Colorado, United States

The scene where Chelsea drives into the quaint town was filmed at the historic Covered Bridge in Vail, and the adjacent Bridge Street is showcased as the Vail main street in the film.

Scenes featuring the ice rink were filmed in Lionshead Village in Vail, Colorado. Chelsea and Owen are seen skating and drinking hot chocolate at the beautiful Alderhof Ice Rink, located at the Arrabelle Hotel in the village center.

Plot summary

The Los Angeles-based Chelsea Whitmore (Lacey Chabert) relocates to the charming town of Vail, Colorado, after inheriting a huge chalet from her uncle.

She falls in love with the town life with help from the local contractor, Owen Becker (Tyler Hynes), and finds with her true passion, thanks to her uncle's famous strudel recipe.
