Thunderbolts* is an upcoming superhero film directed by Jake Schreier and written by Lee Sung-jin, Eric Pearson, and Joanna Calo. The movie is based on the Marvel Comics team, Thunderbolts, and will be the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The story revolves around a group of antiheroes recruited by the government for an unspecified mission, Avengers-style. The trailer of Thunderbolts* features the classic 1980s single Where Is My Mind by the rock band Pixies.
The film is slated for release on May 2, 2025. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Where Is My Mind plays in the trailer of David Harbour-starrer Thunderbolts*
Marvel Entertainment released the film's trailer on September 23, 2024. The music playing in the background and the characters in action caught fans' attention. The song used in the trailer is Where Is My Mind, released by the alternative rock band Pixies in 1988.
Written by the band’s frontman, Black Francis, the song is inspired by his scuba diving experience in the Caribbean. The song conveys a sense of uneasiness and disorientation and works well to depict the members of the MCU feeling similarly lost in their lives.
Furthermore, its slow melody perfectly undercuts the high-octane drama onscreen. The song also resonates with Marvel fans, as it was used in the trailer for another Marvel film, Spider-Man—No Way Home.
The song gained wider popularity after being used in the climax scene of Fight Club. Since then, it has been played in numerous television shows, such as The Bear, Westworld, The Midnight Club, etc. The song is also played in films like The Suicide Squad, Mr. Nobody, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, and many others.
