69-year-old Brendan Gleeson has become the latest actor to be cast in the upcoming live-action series Spider-Man Noir. Produced by Amazon Prime, the series has been officially titled Spider-Noir and was ordered back in May. Nicolas Cage is set to take on the titular role in the series, with Lamorne Morris, Abraham Popoola, and Li Jun Li also in the cast.
According to Variety, Gleeson has been confirmed to play the main villain in the series, although no other details about his role have been released as of yet. Spider-Noir will be set in an alternate 1930s timeline, following a private investigator played by Nicolas Cage, a former superhero in New York City.
Although no release date has been announced thus far, the series is set to debut on MGM+ domestically, before making its way to the official streaming platform.

Additionally, with no details about the kind of story the series will include, characters such as Tombstone have also been mentioned. Further updates about his role in the series can be expected in the coming time, with Sony’s involvement in the project keeping things open-ended for the time being.
The show will see the likes of Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot joining in as co-showrunners, with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal also joining as executive producers. All three were part of the Into the Spider-Verse series, which is set to increase anticipation amongst fans even further.
In addition to Spider-Noir, Amazon has also unveiled plans for the release of Silk: Spider Society, another alternate Spider-Man series.
