Netflix has added a new action thriller, Rebel Ridge, to its ever-expanding library on September 6. Helmed by Green Room's Jeremy Saulnier who has written, produced, and directed the movie, the action thriller features gripping action sequences and a compelling crime drama along with memorable performances from a talented set of actors like Aaron Pierre, Don Johnson, and AnnaSophia Robb.

Set in the small town of Shelby Springs, Rebel Ridge follows an ex-marine called Terry Richmond who has come to post bail for his cousin. However, when his means are unjustly seized by a corrupt local police force led by Chief Sandy Burnne who throws obstacles in his way to stop him, Terry finds himself in the middle of a huge conspiracy.

Don Wayne Johnson rose to fame with the role of James "Sonny" Crockett in the 1980s television series Miami Vice, for which he won a Golden Globe, and was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. Johnson also played the titular character in the 1990s series Nash Bridges and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1996.

In 2014, Don Johnson starred as Jim Bob opposite Sam Shepard and Michael C. Hall in Jim Mickle's critically acclaimed crime film, Cold in July, and the next year in 2015 he began starring in the ABC prime time soap opera Blood & Oil.

In 2018, Johnson starred as Arthur, the love interest of Vivian in Bill Holderman's romantic-comedy Book Club, and in 2019, he played the role of Richard Drysdale in Rian Johnson's murder-mystery Knives Out. Johnson has also starred as Police Chief Judd Crawford in the HBO series Watchmen and co-starred in the 2021 sitcom Kenan.

Over the years the American actor has played a number of supporting roles. Some of his particularly notable roles include a cameo in the comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy with Jason Sudeikis and a supporting role in the 2012 Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained, where he played a southern plantation owner named Spencer 'Big Daddy' Bennett. He has also appeared in films such as A Boy and His Dog (1975), Tin Cup (1996), and Machete (2010).

Don Johnson is also a singer and some of his albums are Heartbeat (1986) and Let It Roll (1989). His cover version of Heartbeat peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and his duet with his then-girlfriend Barbra Streisand, Till I Loved You, was a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

In April 2024, it was announced that Don Johnson would be starring in the Ryan Murphy drama television series, Doctor Odyssey.
