Who is Knull? Everything you need to know about the Marvel villain featured in Venom 3 Final Trailer

Venom 3 is gearing up for its premiere next month, and along with a new trailer, Sony has revealed a new villain who will be featured in the movie. The last time we saw Venom, he was chilling with Eddie Brock on a beach before being seemingly sucked into the MCU.

However, our symbiote antihero returned to his universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits scene, and in Venom: The Last Dance, he will face his greatest foe yet, Knull. The character has never appeared in any Marvel movie before, so his introduction in the last installment of Tom Hardy’s symbiote saga has excited fans.

Introduced in 2010 by Cates and Stegman, Knull is the ancient god of darkness and void who created the symbiotes to use as weapons in his war on the creator gods, the celestials. He held a deep hatred for them because for every star, world, and mote of life they created, his realm of darkness and void shrank.

Knull was a cosmic existential threat, and at one point, the Symbiotes he created seized on his momentary weakness to rebel against him, forming millions of their own bodies into a gigantic spherical prison, the Symbiote homeworld. Venom is a descendant of these creatures.

Knull was mentioned in various issues of Web of Venom, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the War of the Realms crossover event. He was also the main antagonist in Cates and Tradd Moore's Silver Surfer: Black mini-series.

Knull is the biggest villain that the trilogy finale could set up against Eddie and the Venom symbiote as it pits him against his creator. It is not clear who is playing Knull, as he’s only seen briefly in the trailer. Nevertheless, fans are excited to see how the trilogy's finale handles its biggest villain.

Venom 3, titled Venom: The Last Dance, will hit theaters on October 25, 2024. The official synopsis of the movie, as released by Sony, reads as follows:

"In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance."
