On November 12, 2024, Netflix announced that Noa Cohen, an Israeli actress, would play Mother Mary in the upcoming Netflix movie Mary. Since then, the internet has been ablaze with curiosity over the identity of this woman who is playing the mother of Christ.

With the release of the trailer of Mary, Netflix also made it evident that this movie will recount the biblical story of Christ's birth from the viewpoint of the Madonna or The Virgin Mary.

“[It was] important to us that Mary, along with most of our primary cast, be selected from Israel to ensure authenticity.”

This movie will come to Netflix on December 6, 2024, and will have a runtime of 1 hour and 50 minutes. According to reports, it was shot in Morocco and North Africa.

This biblical, coming-of-age story will center on Mary's immaculate conception, the birth of Christ, and Mary and Joseph's struggle to survive with baby Jesus as the ruthless King Herod set out to kill them.
