Pamela Bozanich is a prosecution lawyer who has featured in the Menendez Brothers documentary on Netflix. She also played a huge role in the brothers' real lives, since she was the one who prosecuted their first trial in 1993.
The new documentary features several interviews, including Lyle and Erik Menendez, and relatives of their mother Kitty. Pamela Bozanich is one of the officials interviewed for the documentary, and her comments on the case have drawn criticism from audiences.
Bozanich said that the only reason the Menendez brothers were returning to the spotlight was because of TikTok sensationalism. In her interview during a segment of the new documentary, the lawyer said:
“If that’s how we’re gonna try cases now, why don’t we just, like, have a poll? You present the faces, everybody gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home."
Many supporters of Lyle and Erik Menendez have called Pamela Bozanich out, calling her vile for prosecuting the brothers who were victims of circumstance.
What is the story behind Pamela Bozanich and Lyle and Erik Menendez? Case details explored
The Erik and Lyle Menendez case began on August 20, 1989, when the two brothers killed their parents José and Kitty Menendez at their Beverly Hills mansion. They shot both parents multiple times with recently purchased guns. After the killings, the brothers called the local police, stating that their parents must have been killed because of their father's sour mafia ties.
Afterwards, Erik and Lyle Menendez began to spend their parents' inheritance on expensive luxuries. Seeing this, the authorities grew suspicious of the brothers and their motives. Eventually, Erik confessed to the murder to his therapist Jerome Oziel, and this confession made its way to the police through Oziel's mistress Judalon. The police used recorded tapes of the brothers' joint therapy sessions to release a warrant for their arrest.
The case became a sensation when the Menendez trial was broadcast on television in 1993. Prosecutor Pamela Bozanich argued that Erik and Lyle should be given the death penalty for their crime. Meanwhile, Leslie Abramson was the Menendez brothers' defense lawyer, who argued that they murdered their parents out of fear.

The defense presented the case that the brothers had been s*xually abused by their father as children, and they had retaliated. Kitty was also described as an enabler who took their father's side. Erik and Lyle Menendez were eventually convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder. They were given life sentences by the court on July 2, 1996, with no possibility for parole.
Over the year, the brothers have continued to register pleas for reconsideration, especially since more people have come forward with horror stories about José. Two of the Menendez cousins corroborated the brothers' story and a band member of Menundo also claimed in 2023 that José s*xually abused him.
In the documentary, Lyle addressed this issue right before Pamela Bozanich and her interview. He said:
“Young people have taken the time to figure out what happened, and they understand it in ways that older people don’t. I feel more hope when society seems to be understanding s*x abuse even better."
