English actor Tom Burke has been announced as the latest new entrant in Amazon Prime’s upcoming series Blade Runner 2099, according to Deadline. The sequel to the 2017 film, Blade Runner 2049, the series is the continuation of Ridley Scott’s 1982 superhit, which was based on Philip K. Dick’s novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
The upcoming mini-series began principal shooting in May 2024, but no release date has been allotted to the Amazon production as of yet. It has Michelle Yeoh playing the role of Olwen, a replicant (bioengineered humanoid) and is set to take place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049.
In addition to Yeoh, the likes of Hunter Schafer, Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, and Katelyn Rose Downey are already confirmed to be a part of Blade Runner 2099. Maurizio Lombardi and Daniel Rigby will also be seen in undisclosed roles, with Tom Burke now confirmed to be the latest, in a list of talented stars, who will be seen in Blade Runner 2099.

Now 43, Burke is a versatile actor who has already been seen in multiple major franchises. He recently worked in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and is also going to be a part of upcoming movies such as Winter of the Crow and Black Bag.

Not much has been revealed about what Blade Runner 2099 will deal with. Tom Burke’s character continues to be unconfirmed even if he is confirmed to be a part of the series. The 43-year-old made his Hollywood debut in 2000’s Dragonheart: A New Beginning, even if he also played a minor role in the TV series Dangerfield.
Born in Kent, Tom Burke belongs to a family of actors. Both his parents, Anna Calder-Marshall and David Burke. The latter portrayed Dr. Watson in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, while the former was known for her work in Wuthering Heights.
As a result, Burke had an early interest in acting and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, in London. Before that, he trained at the Young Arden Theatre in Faversham, and his expertise eventually led to roles as a child artist.
While he worked in multiple minor roles, Tom Burke found fame with his portrayal of Giac in Casanova. However, he has vast experience in a variety of roles across television, film, and theatre.
