The Sandlot star Tom Guiry was arrested for seemingly throwing a dumbbell onto a car's windshield. Video evidence obtained by TMZ showed the actor shattering a vehicle's windshield using a weight and then walking across the street shirtless.

Guiry was charged with malicious damage to personal property, disorderly conduct, and assault charges on June 2 before being released the following day.

Tom Guiry made his movie debut with the 1993 David Mickey Evans coming-of-age sports comedy The Sandlot. Guiry played the soft-spoken and rather naive protagonist named Scotty Smalls, who moves to the San Fernando Valley in 1962 alongside his mother and stepfather.

Tom Guiry played Scotty Smalls in The Sandlot

1993's The Sandlot followed middle schooler Scotty Smalls as he moved to a new town in the San Fernando Valley and made friends with the kids who played baseball in the neighborhood sandlot. The film follows Scotty and the friends he makes in his new town.

The coming-of-age tale sees Scotty trying to learn baseball from his dad but that ends miserably. Eventually, the leader of the sandlot boys, Benny Rodriguez, takes it upon himself to teach Scotty how to play the sport.

Despite, Scotty's lack of knowledge of the modern world, the rest of the sandlot boys eventually cozy up to the kid.

Despite having a strained relationship with his step-dad and practically being a shut-in kid without a lot of company, Scotty is quite eager to make new friends. When Benny and the boys didn't have a baseball to play with, a determined Scotty lifts his step-dad's baseball signed by legendary baseball player, Babe Ruth.

However, the kid accidentally ends up hitting the ball over the fence, into the neighboring Mr. Mertle's yard, which was protected by his fierce guard dog called The Beast.

The Sandlot became a coming-of-age classic and currently holds a respectable Rotten Tomatoes score of 65%.

Prominent movie critic Roger Ebert gave the film three stars and wrote:

"There was a moment in the film when Rodriguez hit a line drive directly at the pitcher's mound, and I ducked and held up my mitt, and then I realized I didn't have a mitt, and it was then I also realized how completely this movie had seduced me with its memories of what really matters when you are 12."

Tom Guiry reportedly brandished a knife in front of his neighbour's home

Tom Guiry's alleged behavior seemed to be far-fetched from that of Scotty Smalls as the actor was filmed throwing a dumbbell onto a car. As per video evidence obtained by TMZ, the actor could be seen yanking a dumbbell onto the right bottom corner of the windshield of a white Jeep.

After throwing the weight, the actor sporting only a pair of blue jeans waved his arms and walked across the street to presumably his residence.

The Horry County Sheriff's office told TMZ that Tom was apprehended in the middle of the street on June 2.

As per the Sheriff's Office, when the officers were talking to Tom, the owner of the vehicle yelled out that his window had been shattered. The actor replied:

"That sucks man, I'll pay you back, I'm sorry, I'm gonna get you back,"

Tom Guiry further added in an excited voice:

"I did it. I'm sorry man. I'm coming back to get you ... I ... sorry brother, I'll pay you back."

The vehicle's owner also told officers that the dumbbell used by Tom Guiry was a 35-pound one. The victim also told officers that the actor had approached his house and rang the bell while holding a knife.

As mentioned earlier, Guiry was charged with malicious damage, assault, and disorderly conduct charges. The actor was released from custody on June 3.
