Candyman star Tony Todd, 69, has unexpectedly died on Wednesday, November 6. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Todd's wife Fatima revealed that he died from a long illness at his residence in California.

Todd had multiple films and TV shows in his credits over the years. He accumulated a huge fanbase, specifically for his performance as William Bludworth in the Final Destination franchise. The character was featured in three installments among five entries.

Apart from this, he played minor roles in popular shows such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Tony Todd made his debut with the fantasy drama film Sleepwalk in 1986 and voiced different characters on video games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Half-Life: Alyx.

Netizens took to different social media platforms to share tributes for Tony Todd, recalling his flawless appearances on screen. Voice actor Marios Gavrilis shared a Facebook post with some black-and-white photos featuring Todd alongside some screenshots of his conversation with Tony.

Marios said that he had an opportunity to work with Tony in a game called Indy and continued:

"Tony, I wish we could celebrate our Indy release together, see our game take off together. You left us far too early. Our time shared on and off set was short but sweet. I truly looked up to you, full of admiration. I have learned so much from you. I will never forget your kind words of support and love, making me feel like I belong right there with you."

Apart from his wife Fatima, Todd's survivors also include his two children, Alex and Ariana.

Tony Todd's mysterious character in Final Destination left a lot of questions among the audience

Even though the Frankenstein star was seen in various successful projects in his career, Tony Todd also appeared as William Bludworth in the Final Destination films, who owned the Bludworth Funeral Homes. The character usually appeared when someone died in the film.

Todd's character William always had a smile on his face when he spoke to any character. He was first seen when Alex Browning and Clear Rivers went to check the corpse of Tod Waggner, the first victim of Death in the first film following Alex's premonition of the flight explosion.

William revealed that Death has a list, which features the order of deaths of those who survived the plane explosion. Bludworth even said that anyone would be revisited by Death in case someone cheats the same. However, he revealed that ruining the list can save anyone else from becoming a victim of Death.

In the second film, Bludworth was visited by Kimberly Corman, Thomas Burke, and Clear Rivers, and William informed the trio this time that a new life could defeat Death. He then appeared in the fifth film where William told Sam Lawton, Molly Harper, and Peter Friedkin that they could get the lifespan of another person by killing him or her.

Following Tony Todd's recent death, the character will make its final appearance in the upcoming installment of the franchise, Final Destination: Bloodlines. The film is scheduled to arrive on the big screen next year and is helmed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

Over the years, fans have speculated that Bludworth could be a representative of Death considering that the makers have not revealed much about his character. Notably, the upcoming entry is supposed to reveal his backstory, including his links to Death, as per Bloody Disgusting.
