Ice Age 7 is a much-anticipated sequel for the fans of the Ice Age franchise, which began in 2002. The animated movie series, produced by Blue Sky Studios, was directed by Chris Wedge and co-directed by Carlos Saldanha.
The most recent installment, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, was released in 2022 by Disney after it took over the 20th Century Fox. Since Disney has the rights to the movie and has already kept the movie going, there is a fair possibility that they will continue the production in the franchise.
However, despite the franchise's long-lasting popularity, there has been no official confirmation from the makers till now.
Ice Age was conceived as a 2D film but later shifted to a fully computer-animated format, becoming a blend of comedy and adventure that enchanted audiences with its unique prehistoric setting. The storyline revolves around a mismatched trio of a wooly mammoth named Manny, a sloth called Sid, and a saber-toothed tiger, Diego.

Hints at the possible making of Ice Age 7
When Disney bought 20th Century Fox and closed Blue Sky Studios, it looked like the Ice Age series might end. However, Disney decided to take over and release The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild only on Disney+.
Even though Buck Wild got a low score of 19% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the Ice Age series is still important to Disney. With a successful track record at the box office over two decades, there's a chance for another sequel. However, the mixed reviews of the latest movie could affect Disney's decision on whether to make another sequel.
Although there hasn't been an official announcement about the seventh installment of Ice Age, there are hints that Disney might be thinking about making another sequel. Reportedly, Lori Forte, the producer of The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, said that talking about Ice Age 7 now is "a bit early." However, she mentioned that there are "lots of ideas and adventures" waiting if people really like the newest movie.
Additionally, a document on Disney+'s PR page showed that co-screenwriter Jim Hecht is already working on the next part of the Ice Age series.
However, since the release of Buck Wild, there haven't been any big updates about Ice Age 7. It seems like Disney might still be figuring out how to handle this possibly successful series, especially after how the latest movie was received.
Possible directions for Ice Age 7
If Ice Age 7 is made, it's not clear what it will be about. The series has been changing and moving away from the main characters, Manny, Sid, and Diego, and has been focusing more on other characters like Buck Wild, Crash, and Eddie.
Since Buck Wild got mixed reviews, Disney might decide to go back to the beginning and bring back the original characters for a more traditional story. Or, they could keep trying new stories with the supporting characters.
Until any official announcement is made regarding the seventh part of Ice Age, fans can watch all six films on Disney+ Hotstar.
