While Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock, has already begun filming in the United Kingdom, the question on everyone's minds is whether she will be appearing in James Gunn's Superman as well. Good news for fans is that it was recently confirmed that Supergirl will appear in the upcoming Superman film alongside David Corenswet, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Given that Kara Zor-El is the cousin of the Man of Steel and a pretty important character in his mythos, of course fans would expect an appearance from her.

How big Alcock's role will be in the upcoming DC film remains a mystery, however, fans should probably expect a cameo from her, given that she hasn't been showcased in any marketing material so far.

Fans will be able to check out Alcock's Kara Zor-El first in Superman, which releases in theatres on July 11, 2025, and then later in her own film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is currently filming.

What is the story of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow about?

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second film in the DC Universe that is launched by James Gunn. The film will be based on the 2021 comic book of the same name written by Tom King, with artwork done by Bilquis Evely.

It focuses on Kara Zor-El who goes on an intergalactic adventure with a child known as Ruthye and sees her try to reconnect with herself during the journey.

It is primarily a revenge story that's told from the perspective of Ruthye. After her father is murdered by a man named Krem, she goes on to find a champion who will seek vengeance for her.

That's when she stumbles upon Kara, who is celebrating her 21st birthday, alongside Krypto on a planet that has a Red Sun.

The two then go on a galaxy-defying adventure, where they visit many planets and come across various hardships. The book is filled with a cosmic tone that taps into DC's sci-fi fantasy tone and is often also regarded as one of the character's defining stories.

The official synopsis as per DC Comics reads:

"Kara Zor-El can no longer find any meaning or purpose in her life. But all that changes when an alien girl seeks her out to help her take revenge on the bad guys who destroyed her world. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core. It's Supergirl like you've never seen her before in a character-defining sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece!"

When does Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow release in theatres?
