The 2024 elections feature strong competition between the GOP's presidential nominee Donald Trump and the Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. The battle between the former President and the current Vice President is all set to culminate on November 5.
As Harris looks to make history by becoming the first female President of the United States, Trump aims to become the second-ever president to serve non-consecutive presidential terms after Stephen Grover Cleveland in 1893. As the elections inch closer, a plethora of musicians have made where their loyalties lie crystal clear.
Last month's Republican National Convention (RNC) at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin saw performances from artists like Kid Rock, Lee Greenwood, and Chris Janson who all showcased their loyalties to Trump. This article takes a look at 5 famous musicians who are supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 elections.
List of musicians supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 elections
1) Kodak Black
Kodak Black was pardoned by Donald Trump on the latter's last day in office after the former spent time behind bars for a firearms possession charge in 2020. The rapper has been a fan of the former president ever since. In July of this year, Kodak even released merchandise inspired by the former president's assassination attempt on his official merch store Sniper Gang Apparel.
In an Instagram video, Black posted in July 2022, he could be seen celebrating Independence Day sporting a Trump 2024 hoodie and stating:
"We need Trump in office forever, man. Just like how them Chinese and Russian and Korean muthaf**kas they have their president. Trump the best thing for America."
2) Kid Rock
The All Summer Long hitmaker is one of the most vocal supporters of Donald Trump. Rock's loyalty to the former president resulted in the musician performing at the RNC in July and even introducing the Republican presidential candidate onto the stage with a version of American Bad A*s.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in May of this year, Kid Rock made it clear as to why he supported Donald Trump and it was not because the former president was a "nice guy". He told the publication:
"That motherf**ker likes to win. He likes to cheat in his f**king golf game. I want that guy on my team. I want the guy who goes, ‘I’m going to fight with you.’"
3) Lil Pump
A surprising addition to the list, the Gucci Gang hitmaker has been quite vocal about his support for Trump and disdain for his opponent on social media. In an Instagram video posted in July 2024, Pump claimed that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden created a mess in the country in the last three years, and proclaimed that the only person who could clean it up was "Donald Trump, baby!".
In December 2023, Lil Pump also took to Instagram to share a photograph alongside the former president, captioning the picture:
"Greatest president of all time."
4) Kanye West
After a dinner with Ye at his Florida estate in 2022, Donald Trump took to Truth Social and described the rapper as a "seriously troubled man" who was "decimated in his business and virtually everything else." During the meeting, Trump advised Ye to not run for president as he thought that it was a waste of time because he couldn't win.
However, West had previously supported Trump when he was in office and even wanted the former president to be his running mate when he wanted to run for president in 2024. Years later, Ye's loyalties remained the same as when he was asked by the Paparazzi on February 13 of this year if he still supported Trump, the rapper replied:
"Yeah, of course, it’s Trump all day. What you talking about? You know what it is."
5) M.I.A
British rapper Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam MBE, professionally known as M.I.A is another surprising addition to the list as back in 2017, she called the Trump administration "pathological liars" on X (then known as Twitter). However, she rectified her stance on the very same platform in 2024.
On August 23, in response to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s address to the nation and endorsement of Donald Trump, M.I.A tweeted out:
"Trump is going to ride America through the most challenging 4 years coming pulling out weed , and RFK will inherit America when God is ready to replant and rebuild it righteously,"
The Paper Planes hitmaker followed up with another tweet the following day, where she proclaimed:
"Trump is like a trumpet, if the Trumpet sounds then it’s time for God,"
Elsewhere, a variety of performers also showcased their support for Kamala Harris. The DNC which took place at Chicago's United Center from Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22, saw a plethora of musical performances from artists like Lil Jon, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, The Chicks, and Pink, among others.
