With it being only 10 days since welcoming the new year, the music and entertainment industry is seemingly gearing up for a massive 2025 fueled by major album and movie releases.

The budding anticipation over the oncoming release of highly anticipated projects will likely keep fans entertained for months to come. That said, multiple artists and rappers who are scheduled to release projects this year announced their LPs back in 2024.

With over three weeks left for January 2025, there is a lot to be excited about as artists from various genres gear up for the release of highly anticipated albums and projects.


A list of major albums scheduled to release this January

After hip-hop dominated 2024, delivering the most iconic rap beef of the 21st century and dominating streaming charts with several high-profile project releases, fans are seemingly amped up and ready for new music from their favorite artists.

This feature will list out several highly anticipated albums and projects that are scheduled to be released this month, many of which are expected to break into Billboard 200.


1) Balloonerism (Mac Miller) - January 17, 2025

Mac Miller's estate and record label are gearing up for the release of his second posthumous album, Balloonerism, which follows up on 2022's Circles.

The project was first announced in November 2024, with his estate releasing a press statement claiming the LP was conceptualized more than a decade ago during the production of his eleventh mixtape Faces.

"Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014. It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm" - Mac's estate stated.

Yesterday (January 9) his team released the official tracklist for the LP, confirming the album will be released to all major streaming platforms on January 17, 2025. The complete list of records set to be included in Balloonerism has been provided below:

2) Hurry Up Tomorrow (The Weeknd) - January 24, 2025

The Weeknd fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of his final studio LP, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which acts as the third and final installment of his second album trilogy that began with the release of After Hours in 2020.

The Weeknd's sixth studio album is currently slated to be delivered to major streaming platforms on January 24, 2025, via XO Music ULC and Republic Records.

Toward the end of 2024, the Canadian singer heavily teased the project, releasing an official trailer, posting the cover art, as well as releasing lead singles, building up anticipation for his final LP. While the official tracklist for Hurry Up Tomorrow is yet to be confirmed, the following records are set to be included on the album's official tracklist:

XXL reports that Abel will perform at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on January 25, as part of the promotion cycle Hurry Up Tomorrow. The singer will also be headed on tour later in the year and will debut a new movie, titled after his final LP, scheduled to hit theaters on May 16, 2025.


3) Can’t Rush Greatness (Central Cee) - January 24, 2025

After dominating TikTok Billboard charts with his collaboration with Lil Baby on BAND4BAND, Central Cee is gearing up for the release of his debut studio album, titled Can't Rush Greatness.

Central Cee's Can't Rush Greatness is scheduled to be delivered to all major DSPs on January 24, 2025, with the LP's distribution being handled by Columbia Records. The project was first announced on October 31, with the rapper revealing the official cover art and release date on social media.

While the British rapper is yet to confirm the official tracklist and potential feature list for his upcoming project, fans are expecting an LP that hosts between 14-18 full-length records.

4) Eusexua (FKA twigs) - January 24, 2025

FKA twigs fans have been buzzing since last September, following the singer's official announcement confirming the release of her third studio album Eusexua.

According to FKA's Instagram post, Eusexua is scheduled to be delivered to streaming platforms on January 24, 2025, and will distributed by Young Recordings Limited, under an exclusive license to Atlantic Recording Corporation.

Officially following up on 2019's Magdalene, which debuted at No.1 on Billboard's Top Electronic/Dance album charts, FKA's upcoming project was heavily discussed during her March 2024 interview with Vogue, where she explained the meaning behind the unique title, stating:

"It’s like when you’ve been kissing a lover for hours and turn into an amoeba with that person. You’re not human anymore, you’re just a feeling. Or that moment before an orgasm: pure nothingness but also pure focus, in a state of eusexua. That’s kind of the way I want to live my life right now.”

Leading up to Eusexua's release, FKA has built up anticipation by releasing lead singles as well as previewing multiple records set to be included in the project. The following 11 songs will appear on the official tracklist of the British singer's third studio album:

5) Deep Thoughts (Lil Durk) - January 31, 2025

While Lil Durk continues to remain behind bars awaiting trial for his "murder-for-hire" case, which has been pushed back to October 2025, the Chicago rapper is gearing up for the release of his ninth studio album titled Deep Thoughts.

The upcoming LP, previously titled Love Songs 4 the Streets 3, is also dubbed as the official follow-up to his fourth studio album Love Songs 4 the Streets 2. Last October, Durk, and his team revealed the official tracklist for the album, which surprised netizens with the inclusion of streamers Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed as features.

6) Showbiz! (MIKE) - January 31, 2025

Rapper and producer MIKE will reportedly be releasing a brand new album titled Showbiz! on January 31, 2025.

In building anticipation amongst his fanbase, MIKE released a lead single, titled You’re the Only One Watching, alongside an official music video, co-directed by longtime collaborator Ryosuke Tanzawa.

While the complete tracklist for the New York rapper's upcoming album has yet to be released, the following records are expected to be included in the project:

7) Not Safe For Work (Tyga) - January 31, 2024

Back in December 2024, Tyga announced that he would be returning to the hip-hop scene with a solo comeback album titled Not Safe For Work, currently scheduled to be delivered to major streaming platforms on January 31, 2025.

The rapper's Instagram post reveals the release date for his new project, as well as confirming official pre-order links for Not Safe For Work. Tyga's upcoming LP officially follows up on 2019's Legendary, which debuted at no.17 on Billboard 200.

While Tyga is yet to release the official tracklist for NSFW, according to his pre-order links the LP will feature 17 full-length tracks which includes a record titled Slave.


Another major project that was released this month was Lil Baby's fourth studio album, WHAM (Who Hard As Me), delivered to streaming platforms on January 3, 2025.
