Popular internet personality and podcaster DJ Akademiks recently went on live stream to react to Kendrick Lamar's newly released Not Like Us music video. While the podcaster admitted the video was good, it led to a discussion on Kendrick's music leading the charts continuously instead of Drake's.
"Drake's wings, slightly, feel clipped. The Drake Stimulus Package right now, doesn't exist," DJ Akademiks said.
The podcaster has always showcased his support and liking for Drake. He is one of the rapper's biggest fans when it comes to media personalities. However, his statement that Drizzy's music is currently unable to make the waves garnered a response from the internet.
Several netizens took to X to express their opinion on DJ Akademiks' statement. One person hinted at the podcaster sounding less lenient toward Drizzy and stated:
Some other people said:
"He realized all that glazing wasn’t getting him nowhere" one joked about the podcaster trying to glaze Drake.
"That Drake stimulus package has been canceled until further notice." another person tweeted.
"He's been spitting this whole stream tbh I'm very entertained by this switch up lmao" an X user commented on the podcaster showcasing a neutral side while reviewing Kendrick's music video.
Some took the podcaster's comment on Drake as a cue to give their opinions on the rapper and the "stimulus package" DJ Akademiks referred to:
"People don’t miss Drake right now. He over saturated the market. That’s the reason he shouldn’t drop anything for the next few months." an X user tweeted.
"The Drake stimmy use to hit but then people realize they just printing fake fiat money," another X user tweeted.
"I think he scared to drop something by himself cause if them numbers don’t hit he really gonna know it’s over," another person tweeted.
"Drake going on Camila Cabello's track didn't do nothing" — DJ Akademiks comments on Drizzy's latest career trajectory
Showcasing a neutral approach in the reaction video of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us, DJ Akademiks not only mentioned that the kind of traction Drizzy's tracks used to get before doesn't exist right now but also commented on his collab with Camila Cabello.
Camila Cabello's latest studio album, C, XOXO, released on June 28, 2024, features two songs in collaboration with Drake. One of the songs Hot Uptown ranked at number 92 on Billboard's Hot 100, which is not usually how low Drizzy's songs used to rank before.
"Drake going on Camila Cabello's track didn't do nothing," the podcaster said while commenting on the song's rankings.
Moreover, DJ Akademiks posted multiple tweets showcasing his thoughts on Kendrick's Not Like Us music video. In the first tweet, the podcaster stated that Kendrick gave "everybody a look" and that it was a "pretty good video."
In another tweet, he mentioned the part in the video wherein Kendrick Lamar's partner Whitney is dancing.
In a final tweet about the music video, he praised Kendrick and said:
"First music video people have cared about in a while.. good job Kendrick Lamar."
DJ Akademiks has constantly been giving his opinion on the feud between Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar. In an appearance on the Flagrant podcast with Akaash Singh and Andrew Schulz in May 2024, the podcaster claimed that Drake gave him a 30-minute notice to get on stream before releasing Family Matters.
