Following Diddy's arrest on September 16, 2024, seven new lawsuits have been filed against the rapper by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee. Commenting on the new lawsuits against Diddy, Harvey Weinstein's lawyer Arthur Aidala talked to Chris Cuomo from NewsNation on October 21, 2024, and referred to the lawsuits against the rapper being drawn from a toll-free number provided for accusers to call.
Arthur Aidala stated:
“All these hotline numbers make me nervous. They did (that to) my client, Harvey Weinstein. Diddy’s lawyers need to think about whether or not this is just a big money grab.”
Arthur compared Diddy's case to that of Harvey Weinstein wherein more than 80 women had come forward to accuse the film producer of s*xual misconduct and other crimes.
While Weinstein's conviction was overturned in April 2024, prosecutors mentioned that more women were ready to initiate legal proceedings against Harvey in July 2024.
"We will let the allegations in the filed complaints speak for themselves"— Tony Buzbee comments on new lawsuits against Diddy
The new lawsuits against Diddy were filed in New York federal court on October 20, 2024, under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act. Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee told NBC News that he planned to file seven lawsuits against Diddy by the night of October 20, 2024. Stating the particulars of the allegations, Buzbee said:
“We will let the allegations in the filed complaints speak for themselves, and will work to see that justice is done. We expect to be filing cases weekly naming Mr. Combs and others as defendants as we continue to gather evidence and prepare the filings.”
According to details of the lawsuits mentioned by NBC News, one of the cases alleges that Diddy and another male celebrity r*ped a 13-year-old girl at an after-party for the 2000 VMAs wherein the other celebrity is not named in the lawsuit.
Another case mentions that the rapper exposed himself to a man and grabbed the man's genitals in a s*xual manner while a third case alleges the rapper drugging an independent musical artist at a party and r*ping her. The details of the case mention that the music artist woke up in pain with imprints on her arms indicating she was tied with ropes.
The fourth case involves a celebrity personal trainer alleging getting assaulted by the rapper at a party in 2022 at his Hollywood Hills home. Moreover, the fifth lawsuit mentions a woman who claimed to be drugged at a party at Diddy's hotel room after which she woke up naked in bed with the rapper.
The sixth case is about a man who ran a security firm who alleges that he was invited into a private room by the rapper at a party and was given a drink that made him feel nauseous and dizzy after the rapper stuck his hands inside the man's pants and grabbed his genitals as per the lawsuit. Additionally, a 17-year-old aspiring musician alleged that he was assaulted at a party by the rapper in the seventh lawsuit filed by Tony Buzbee.
After his arrest, a grand jury indicted Diddy on charges of racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper is currently placed at the Metropolitan Detention Center, in Brooklyn and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
