Beyoncé's BeyHive (fandom) has a cohort of big names who admire and idolize the Cowboy Carter singer, and Adele is one of the biggest names on the list. The two have been friends and fans of one another for quite some time now. In fact, the Hello singer even dedicated a Grammy to Queen Bey.

Adele recounted the first time she met Beyoncé in an interview with Rolling Stones published on April 28, 2011.

"I was about to meet Beyoncé and I had a full-blown anxiety attack… Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God'."

In a show in Denmark in May 2016, Adele even referred to Queen Bey as one of her biggest musical inspirations.

"Beyoncé is the sickest artist around in the whole entire world; it's unbelievable. I've been listening to her for 17 years, and she's still making music that blows my mind."

The admiration is mutual. Beyoncé has raved about Adele's "legendary comebacks" and called her "the most humble woman" she has ever met. In a cover story for Vanity Fair titled Adele, Queen of Hearts, Queen Bey commented:

"It is so easy to talk to her and be around her. She's funny as hell and her comebacks are legendary."

The Cowboy Carter singer further commented on Adele's personality in the same cover story and lauded her humility.

"The most beautiful thing about Adele is that she has her priorities straight. She is a gracious woman and the most humble human being I've ever met."

In 2017, Adele won the Grammy Album of the Year for her album 25. The 36-year-old opined that Queen B should have won the coveted award, and she couldn't believe her loss. In fact, the Hello singer went so far as to dedicate her Album of the Year win to Beyoncé. In her acceptance speech, she said:

“The album to me, the Lemonade album, Beyoncé, was so monumental and so well thought out. And so beautiful and soul-baring and we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that. And all us artists adore you."

She ended the speech by professing her love for Queen Bey.

During a press interview backstage on February 13, 2017, Adele also shared her experience of conversing with the Renaissance singer before the Grammy ceremony. She revealed that she talked about the honor and privilege of being nominated alongside Beyoncé.

“I spoke to her before just to let her know how honored and privileged I felt to be nominated alongside her, and we spoke afterward as well and she was very gracious and humble, as always, as we’ve come to expect.”

In the same backstage interview, she commented that a piece of her died when she realized that Beyoncé hadn't won the award.

"I’m not going to lie, ’cause I was completely rooting for her — I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win. What the f*ck does she have to do to win album of the year? That’s how I feel.”

She added:

“And the reason I felt the need to say something is because my album of the year is Lemonade. She is my icon of my whole life.”

Adele also commented on being a dedicated member of the BeyHive and how her love for the Cowboy Carter singer started in the first place. She fell for the 42-year-old the moment she released her first chart-topper, No, No, No.

“I don’t take any f–king s–t when it comes to anyone not liking Beyoncé. You can’t be in my life. You simply can’t,” Adele quipped during the same backstage interview from 2017.

After the ceremony, Adele allegedly broke her Grammy in half to pay tribute to her idol. She was photographed holding the two pieces of her Album of the Year award.

Fans of both artists hope that the admiration continues for years to come so that they can be treated to a collaboration in the near future.
