Nicki Minaj has been a rapper for nearly 15 years and has managed to rise to the top of the rap world in that time. Today, she is known for being the wealthiest female rapper and the most popular one—she's the most followed rapper on Instagram.

In her time in the industry, Minaj has had her share of beefs and friendships. While her feuds with fellow artists gain popularity quickly, her friendships are less known. One such friendship is between her and Beenie Man, originally named Anthony Moses Davis.

The Grammy-winning reggae artist first met Nicki Minaj in 2012, when the duo collaborated on Gun Shot, a single from her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

While the two haven't shared the limelight together in a long time, the Anaconda rapper invited the DJ on stage during her London tour, calling him her "muse."

Nicki Minaj said she was "obsessed" with Beenie Man on her London tour

On May 28, 2024, Nicki Minaj was in London for the European leg of her Pink Friday 2 world tour. The rapper performed at the O2 Arena that night, where she brought out Beenie Man to join her on stage.

Here's what the Hey Mama rapper's introduction for the DJ said:

"One person who I have looked up to before I even started knowing that I could do music… This person has been my muse for so many years. Of all persons, I can’t f***ing believe. What I’m gonna do is play a few songs while they’re up here. I’m gonna just play it like a DJ.”

Following up on it, the Side to Side rapper also stated that while the agreement of the show included three songs for Beenie Man to do, Minaj had other plans:

"They think they’re coming out here to do three songs, but I have a few more because I’m just, like, obsessed with this person, so let’s go."

It was the cue for the DJ's entry, as Who Am I started playing in the background, and Beenie appeared on stage in an all-black ensemble.

His set was nearly 10 minutes long and included records like Dude (featuring Miss Thing), Girls Dem Sugar (featuring Mya), Tear off Mi Garments, Bookshelf, Old Dog, Wickedest Slam, and Romi.

Towards the completion of the DJ's set, both artists exchanged bows and "I love you," with Beenie squeezing in Rum and Redbull as his last performance before making his exit.

Taking to her X handle to acknowledge the show, Nicki Minaj seemed thrilled to have performed alongside Beenie in her tweet, writing, "I can't believe this is my life sometimes," expressing her adoration of the DJ.

Beenie also talked about the set in an Instagram post later, where he called Nicki "the queen"

On December 14, 2023, Nicki Minaj joined the streamer Kai Cenat for a live stream session on his channel to promote her fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2.

During the session, Minaj mentioned Beenie Man, calling him the inspiration behind one of the songs from her latest album, Just The Memories.

"Shout out to Beenie Man; obviously that was the inspo for saying, ‘Memories don’t live like people do’"

The Swalla rapper then went on to share how she was pregnant at the time of coming up with the first line of the song, adding:

"You hear how muffly it sounds and it’s like I’m not even really singing? Because I liked the vibe of when I first did it, so, I kept it. I changed other stuff but I kept that first line."

Towards the end, she gave Beenie Man another shoutout, calling him "the King Beenie" and "one of my favorites of all time, still is to this day."

Nicki Minaj wrapped up the European leg of her world tour on July 14 in Liège, Belgium, and resumed the North American leg in Philadelphia on September 4. The tour, which is currently ongoing, will conclude in Elmont, New York, on October 11. The Barbz are eagerly waiting for the Only rapper to wrap up her tour and share details about the release of her sixth album—Pink Friday 3—soon, as promised.
