Nicki Minaj entered the music industry in 2007 and has worked hard ever since to establish herself as a celebrated rap artist. While making her way to the top as the wealthiest, most popular female rapper, Minaj has ruffled a few feathers, and her feuds with Remy Ma, Lil Kim, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion are examples of the same.

However, it's not like the Pink Friday rapper hasn't made any friends in the industry either. One such friend she bonded with early in her career is Britney Spears. Nicki Minaj and Spears first became friends in 2011 when the former featured in Spears' song "Till The World Ends."

Two years ago, when the Circus singer was facing criticism due to her ex-husband's comment about her relationship with her sons, Nick defended her by slamming him in an Instagram Live session.

Nicki Minaj called Kevin Federline a "clown" for using Britney's children to hurt her

It all started in June 2022, after Britney Spears married Sam Asghari. Neither of her sons attended the wedding.

Kevin Federline, Spears' ex-husband, was interviewed by the Daily Mail soon after. He stated that the boys "were not seeing her right now" and felt embarrassed by the Instagram pictures she uploaded of herself.

While Spears took to Instagram to call Federline's claims "hurtful," her friend, Minaj, had much more to say about it. In an Instagram Live session on August 17, Minaj called Federline out for his attack on Britney, saying:

"Do you understand what kind of a clown you have to be, to be a whole grown f***ing man? And as soon as you see somebody happy and getting married and moving on and being free and feeling good in their own skin, to do the very thing that you know is going to attempt to break them down?"

The Anaconda rapper then pointed out how only cowards used the media against a famous person they once loved, using their fame as this constant "gotcha" moment, adding:

"And you think you're not gonna f***ing have karma from it? You think it's okay? You think that anybody's going to feel sorry for you?"

Talking about the Everytime singer's love for her children, Minaj continued:

"She loves her kids more than life itself... how dare you? How dare you encourage this woman's children to be a part of your nonsense. They're kids, they don't know how detrimental this is. But you know. Leave her the f*** alone."

This isn't the first time the Young Money artist has come to Spears' rescue on social media. Earlier, in March 2022, the Femme Fatale singer wrote an apology on Instagram about her dancing skills, which Nicki quickly defended in the comment, writing:

"Not the best dancer? BRITNEY! PUT YOUR CROWN BACK ON & LEAVE IT THERE BABY!!!!!!” the rapper wrote in the comments section. “You ARE the best dancer!!! Settled that, what’s next?"

Nicki Minaj joined Britney's 2011 tour for a supporting act

Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears' friendship dates back to 2011, when the two artists collaborated on Till The World Ends, a track from the latter's seventh studio album, Femme Fatale.

In June 2011, when Spears started her headlining tour for the album, Nicki was one of the artists joining it for supporting acts, including Joe Jonas, Nervo, and Howie Dorough, to mention a few.

On July 27, 2011, Britney praised Nicki Minaj while talking to MTV, saying:

"She's a great artist in every way... I think she has a distinct sound when she raps. It really stands out and sets her apart from everyone else. I'm happy she's able to be on tour with me because that's just amazing."

On her part, the Side to Side rapper also had only good things to say about Britney. She spoke to MTV about how comfortable the singer made her feel, adding:

"She reminds me of my best friend, which is really, really weird. So, whenever I see her, I feel at peace for some strange reason."

Thirteen years after opening for Britney on her Femme Fatale concert, Nicki Minaj is on her fourth headlining tour at the moment. The rapper's tour will conclude on October 11 in New York, after which she might reveal her sixth album's release dates.
