On August 7, 2024, political commentator Candace Owens released a "forbidden" conversation with rapper Kanye via her YouTube channel. The conversation took place in 2022 as a part of Candace's podcast, given it was originally a part of an interview with Daily Wire, however, the network stopped the duo's conversation midway.
Dubbed "explosive" by Billboard, the 72-minute interview featured Kanye talking about Beyoncé, and Jay-Z, the impact of his antisemitic remarks, and his feelings on the Jewish and Black communities.
After releasing the conversation via YouTube, Candace Owens faced backlash for releasing a conversation from 2 years ago and British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos commented on the same via X on August 8, 2024, stating:
"Hey I didn't want today to pass without me noting what a disgusting, shameless, grotty grab your decision to publish today was, you shameless f*****g Jew."
Referring to the British commentator's comment on her decision to release the "forbidden" conversation, Candace Owens referred to media reports of Michael Jackson converting to Islam and comparing the same to Kanye's situation on X on the same day:
"The same thing that was done to Michael Jackson by the press and through the legal system is the same thing that was done to Ye, and is the same thing that is being attempted on me."
She also alleged in her tweet how a media network used to "spread lies and threaten livelihoods" is one of the forms of terrorism. Candance said that one does not get to hide behind one's religion when called out for demonic behavior.
"Much of what Ye said back in 2022, I then got to experience first hand"— Candace Owens comments on "forbidden" conversation with the rapper
According to the 2022 conversation posted by Candace Owens on YouTube, Kanye West spoke about Jewish people and their trauma from the Holocaust and also mentioned abortion rates in the community. In the interview, Kanye told Candace that they were still in the Holocaust suggesting:
"6,000,000 Jewish people died in the Holocaust, over 20,000,000 darker Jews – Black people – have been aborted. More babies are aborted in New York than born."
The rapper claimed that abortion rates amongst Jews are less than that in the Black community. Kanye also addressed the centuries of mistreatment that the Black community has undergone suggesting that it is time for the community to move forward, dispeling the trauma.
Commenting on how Kanye's comments on the Black and Jew community during their "forbidden" conversation were relevant, Candace Owens tweeted on August 8, 2024:
"Much of what Ye said back in 2022, I then got to experience first hand. The threatening and controlling of the black voice when we ordain to speak out against people that are abusing us across various industries needs to stop. I will not be bullied into Zionist talking points."
Notably, Candace Owens has been a critic of Israel's war on Gaza since she was working for the Daily Wire.
In March 2024, Candance left Daily Wire owing to a clash with commentator Ben Shapiro over the latter being a supporter of Israel and the region's actions. The political commentator took to X on March 22, 2024, to address her departure from the publication stating the rumors are true and that she is finally free.
