Celine Dion and Lady Gaga were spotted in Paris, seemingly preparing for the Paris Olympics opening ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics is all set to unveil with an opening ceremony at the Seine River in Paris. For the first time, the iconic Parade of Nations ceremony won't take place at an Olympic Stadium. All the athletes are to travel in boats through the river which flows through the center of the City of Light.

As mentioned above, French journalist Thierry Moreau confirmed that Celine Dion and Lady Gaga will perform at the ceremony via a tweet on Wednesday, July 24. A translated version of the journalist's tweet read,

"🚨 @celinedion and @ladygaga rehearsed “La vie en rose” by Edith Piaf as a duet. Celine Dion will be dressed by Dior with a pink and black feather cape… 😉"

Speculations regarding the duo performing at the ceremony were at an all-time high following both the singers being sighted in Paris in the last few days. As per The Independent, it was reported on Tuesday, July 23 that both Celine Dion and Lady Gaga were staying at the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris.

Moreover, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the French sports minister, remarked during a Tuesday appearance at French channel TF1’s Bonjour breakfast show that the singer's appearance in Paris was "not by chance". She further added,

"There are a multitude of possible roles in an opening ceremony."

According to Deadline, French Radio station RTL further reported that Celine Dion had touched down at France's Le Bourget airport on Monday evening, July 22. The station also reported that Dion was going to be spending the next day at the Dior fashion house for a fitting session. The singer was even photographed walking the streets in Paris on Tuesday.

On Monday, July 22, pictures circulated online of Lady Gaga standing alongside a piano on the Seine River while on a floating platform. To add to the speculation, Celine Dion herself took to Instagram on Wednesday, July 24 to post four photographs of herself at the Louvre Museum.

The singer captioned her post,

"Every time I return to Paris, I remember there’s so much beauty and joy still to experience in the world. I love Paris, and I’m so happy to be back! Thank you to our wonderful friends at The Louvre! -Celine xx…"

The speculations regarding Celine Dion performing at the opening ceremony began ever since the singer appeared on the cover of French Vogue back in April of this year.

"The way I see it, I have two choices. Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself."

She added,

"I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!"

So far the only performer confirmed for the ceremony is French singer Aya Nakamura. As per Deadline, other rumored performers during the occasion include Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa.
